Bowe, UD. He's simply the better fighter.

Mercer wanted that fight, he roomed with Bowe at the 1988 Olympics and hated the guy, he got another room because he was sick of Bowes moaning about every little thing and all his self doubt about his fights.

The excellent Riddick Bowe of the early 1990's, before he was ruined by lackadaisical training and gluttony, was a special fighter. He had way too much for Mercer to deal with at that time although Mercer was very tough and solid himself. Bowe by UD.

The Riddick Bowe of any part of the 90's beats Ray Mercer. Riddick Bowe was very good on the inside, and has is too much for Ray to handle there.

Mercer has one of the best chins ever, and it would get tested here. Bowe is not the biggest puncher Mercer would have faced. Bowe does not hit as hard as Morrison, not is he in Lewis' league when it comes to power. I don't think Bowe would win by stoppage, but I do think he would outclass Mercer as Holmes did. Only Bowe would make it look brutal.

If Riddick chose to slug it out with Mercer, it might be a very exciting fight, and one where Ray would actually have a chance of winning. If Bowe decided to box cautiously though, it might be a dull fight, with Bowe winning a fairly wide decision.

    Bowe boxing cautiously? :D

I think the first scenario you described is most likely: Bowe will be invited to a war and wouldn't back down. Mercer's chin and power (as much as anyone Bowe's ever faced) will give him plenty of trouble. I think Bowe will win a close decision.

Yeah, one way or another, I think this fights going to the scorecards. Neither of these guys were easy to get out of there when they were at their best, and in fact, Riddick was never really stopped. I see this one going 12 rounds.

He wanted it so much, he blew the first Ferguson fight which would got him his shot...

But to be fair, he did try to bribe Jesse, so maybe he did want the mone.... I mean fight!;)

Bowe IMO would of boxed Mercer to a stand still in 1993.

    Bowe TKO11 (probable corner retirement)

Bowe was a level above Mercer in terms of skill. But the Ray Mercer that fought Lennox Lewis was the best Mercer ever. That Ray Mercer would have given Bowe a tough fight. But I think Bowe beats him on points!

So long as Bowe isn't too macho/stupid, he should be able to outbox Ray to the points decision. I know that Mercer really didn't like Bowe (to the point where he even went up to Lewis before the '88 Olympic Final and told him to "knock that loud-mouthed piece of **** out") and would fight hard, but I don't think he can quite do it.

Bowe UD, say about 9-3...8-4 at a push, Ray wouldn't back down.

    bowe close decision

His complete lack of a defense and inability to handle a jab means that he geats a beating from Mercer.

I give Bowe the nod in a hard fight because he is a slightly better fighter then Mercer

If they fought once a year over a 10 year period Mercer would win at least 8 times

Depends when the match was made, and who was motivated!

At their best, I think Bowe would win a hard fought decision.
