Bowe, but you never know how close Mercer might make it. He could be all over the place. He might lose lopsidedly or pretty close. Strange fighter was Mercer. And since Bowe fights already lend themselves to crazy ****, you REALLY never know.
Bowe was as erratic as Mercer if not moreso Bowe was nearly KO'd of cruiser Hide - Battered all around the ring off Golota - Beaten but gifted against Tubbs.. Would I be right in thinking you are using the 1st Holyfield fight as a template for Bowe then cherry picking various fights in Mercers career to discredit him??? Mercer would win - Bigger heart better chin bigger punch
1. Where the **** did you come from with this **** about me "discrediting" Mercer? I think I'm one of the few people on here who admits to mistakenly earmarking him for greatness early on. 2. I never said word one about Bowe's consistency, so what are you reading? He's simply far more talented, hence the pick. 3. In what world does Mercer have demonstrably more heart? Bowe had huge heart. Mercer allegedly tried to bribe a journeyman to dive for ****'s sake. 4. I don't know that Mercer has a bigger punch either. 5. Are you honestly counting struggles with Hide and Golota as if Bowe was still physically untouched by the wars and yo-yo weight swings? He clearly wasn't. Would I be right in thinking you're up your own ass?
If Mercer would have beaten Ferguson he would have been Bowes second defense of his titles after Holyfield. Instead he showed up lazy and out of shape and blew it against the boogieman. Mercer was always made to order for Bowe but it would have been an exciting fight. Mercers jab would make it difficult at times for Bowe but Mercer would have stood right in front of Bowe and riddick would probably take his head off with his uppercut the same way he did to Holyfield when he made that same mistake. Mercer was a lot less savvy than holyfiled defensively.
So what? Bowe's wife was ****ing dangerous as ****! :adminThere's bravery, then there's just stupidity, crippet. You don't take that mama grizzly's kids without a knife, man. What about the heroism of saving those damn kids?... It's clear you only have an agenda. :bart
Bowe could very well stop the iron chinned mercer, it would be like morrison-mercer rd1, bowe throwing savage punches at him, except bowe won't gas like morrison. You don't wanna stand in front of a guy like bowe, who throws great combos, outside and inside.
Crippet: Bowe had a huge heart in the ring. Those post two Golota beatings incidents where Bowe quit the marines and had the domestic violence incident having nothing to do with fighting heart and everything to do with Brain trauma received towards the end of his career. Mercer had his chance to fight Bowe, but blew it, losing to the highly ordinary Jesse Ferguson, who Bowe then easily destroyed. Both guys lack defense but Bowe keeps him outside with the jab all night long. Then the right hand lands again and again. Mercer gamely soaks up a beating but is stopped late or on the wrong side of a wide points decision.
To my knowledge, I could be wrong, but I don't think Bowe ever boxed cautiously. He was the anti Lewis.
Mercer had an iron chin, on the McCall and Chuvalo level. Lewis, Morrison, Witherspoon, Holyfield, Cooper, Damiani hit him with everything they had. Holy was the only one who scored KD against Mercer when Ray took a knee. But Bowe was the one who could stop Mercer. He's the only man who stopped ATG Holyfield with the head shots. Bowe had very good power in both hands and unbeliavable workrate for such a big man. He would land his uppercuts and hooks on Ray's chin all night. Bowe late TKO or wide decision is the most likely outcome
