Riddick would stop Ruddock in about 5 or 6 rounds. Ruddock never could turn his big knockouts over old fighters into knockouts over guys who were current.
On paper Bowe is the winner. But I don't know if that's how it would transcend. Regardless of how badly he was beaten by Lewis, Razor could still take a punch and deliver a good one as well. He also wouldn't have been dwarfed by Bowe as many of his opponents were. Riddick's defense was poor, and he fought inside, which would have been a good way for Ruddock to find a home for that smash left upper cut of his... In all reality Bowe probably takes it, but I'm not sold on the idea that this is ending in 5 rounds, nor that an upset is out of the question.
bowe ducked razor ruddock 2 times..one time to fight phil brown and another time to fight pierre coetzer...bowe was razors sparring partner when ruddock fought bonecrusher
Technically Lewis did duck southpaws... but it doesn't really hurt your legacy. Besides Wlad, Vitali and Holyfield nobody really fought southpaws. Wlad has 8, Vitali and Holyfield have 4. Most ATGs have either fought 1 or 0 southpaws and southpaws being the sneaky *******s they are, can make your resume look a lot worse (Besides Wlad and to some extent Vitali and Holyfield no HW champ ever is really experienced with them). So they have a big advantage. Mike Tyson possibly also ducked southpaws but it might also be the men behind Tyson who ducked the southpaws. Southpaws can make your fighter look bad so it is best to avoid them if you want the money. Karl Mildenberger an "ok"(bummy) boxer could frustrate Ali for 12 rounds before he got TKO'd. He also fought sub 190 lbs a lot of times in his career, and sub 200 in all but a few fights. He also was a featherfist with just a 30%KO ratio. If he wasn't a southpaw, Ali would have had a much easier time with him, and Mildenberger wasn't even a good southpaw...
Bowe by Knockout. He is the better boxer and also the bigger man. Eddie Futch had developed him into a helluva heavyweight. Ruddock was just a one handed bomber with poor balance and not much ring IQ. He was strong and tough but that only goes so far at the elite level. Bowe actually used his jab and followed up with crisp combinations. He was a two handed threat. Ruddock on the other hand threw one punch at a time and left himself wide open for counters, he had poor balance went down because of it more than a few times. Bowe KO 3
Wasn't Ruddock more skilled in the beginning than he was later in his career when he "fell in love" with his power? Bowe (prime) would still be a class above Ruddock though. I agree with you.
Bowe stops Ruddock late, but not w/o getting seriously rocked along the way. Remember this about Bowe, he had very good power, but not the same firepower that Tyson and Lewis had. So saying he stops Ruddock early is being unrealistic.
