who takes it...no poll. my boy thinks sonny knocks riddick out with no explanation, I think Riddick outboxes Sonny for the majority of the fight and knocks him out sometime in the 9th or 10th. Sonny was another fighter who thrived on a psychological advantage ala tyson (even though that was in no way his only weapon) and I don't think Riddick would be even slightly preturbed. He would also be the decently bigger man with the better boxing skills and quicker handspeed even though reach would be relatively close. Power goes to Sonny. what do you guys think?

Liston takes this one within 5 rounds. Bowe would have his moments, but as soon as Sony connects it would only be a matter of time.

Good matchup in which Bowe would do well for a time ,but his defensive lapses ultimately prove his undoing Liston by ko 10thrd.

Yeah, Bowe is tough and a hard guy to take out so I don't see Sonny blasting him out early. Overall he's a different class of fighter.

Liston by late TKO. He has the far better jab, hits harder and has better defense.

Liston by twelve round beating and thats only because of Bowes chin and heart.

Guys who get outjabbed easily with horrible defense and a penchant for brawling are not beating Liston.

This would be a nightmare fight for Bowe .

Even his good infighting skills for a big man would avail him nothing in this fight.

And no Bowe is not going to win just because he has heart.

What better boxing skills did Bowe have ?.

Maybe infighting thats it Riddick with his lack of defense plodding footwork and inability to handle a jab is not going to outbox liston.

prime riddick had the ability to box on the outside and brawl when he wanted. Liston possessed the greater defense? when has he ever displayed defensive capability. Name the fight and i'll watch it asap. please man liston might get worked by a prime Riddick

Liston possessed some of the finest head movement in heavyweight history. He bobbed his head back and forth 9 o clock, then 3 o clock, then 7 o clock, back to 2 o clock mixing and mixing it up...watch the 2nd big cat williams fight Liston is very hard to hit cleanly when he gets his head movement going. Liston also fundamentally sustained a very high protective gaurd with his 15" fists up high protecting his face and elbows tucked protecting his ribs.

    Yeah, SQ.

Also, Liston, although not particularly fast on his feet, was well balanced. He could get back and to the side quickly if he needed to before recliaming his space. He wasn't too bad at getting set, and there aren't a lot of HW's that would be able to take advantage of him in this department.

There's no way on earth Bowe has the edge in boxing ability. I would pick Lison in this one.
btw, what on earth have Mayweather and Judah done to their hands in that photo? Are they at some kind of conference for arthritics?

but liston got hit alot, even in his prime, right? I've seen his fights pre-ali. whitehurst, eddie machen, marty marshall (although in dim quality), and he took some to give some more than strictly dominating a fight with his jab. when he dominated the fight from the beginning, it usually ended in a knockout victory, if not always. could he go the full 15 doing that, or 12? never been proven. Bowe has boxed for full fights, with a 4 inch height advantage and weight advantage (Prime bowe was fit and still much bigger than sonny). Most of you guys are saying sonny would eat him up but I think you have to give riddick more credit. he was a sublime specimen and legit boxer at one point in his career
