So Wlad's chin and defense are better than Bowe's? I know you'll say yesatsch , but that's because you're not watching on HD. On HD you can actually see the light reflecting off of the glass in Wlad's jaw.:deal
atsch BOWE avoided every big puncher in his era ! And he was much easier to hit then VLAD ! In fact BOWE doesnt mach up to VLAD in any catagory ! VLAD sparks him just like LL would have ! :yep
LIke I said, watch it on HD. Gotta compliment Wladdy though, it may be glass, but it's champagne glass quality and he's got it in good quantity too. Quality and quantity, no way Bowe beats that!:yep
Glad Bowe is such a big underdog. Too bad it can't happen cuz I would win alot of money on this fight.
I wouldn't say that Bowe was in his PRIME at the end of his career; and what puts Wlad in a much higher class than Bowe, pray tell?
Because we got button happy and didn't read before we picked a winner. Key words being "prime for prime"
In a fantasy matchup: why would one fighter be in his prime and the other at the end of his career (arguably at his career worst)? You must assume that I am Don King and trying to get Riddick Bowe off of my payroll. Well good sir, for your clarification, I am not Don King and I would never disadvantage Bowe in that manner....... even though that version of Bowe would still BEAT THAT ASS!:!:
Who's to say that Bowe's era was so much tougher than todays? Wins over Jorge Gonzelez, Larry Donald? There was Lewis, and Bowe never faced him. Today's Wladimir takes prime Bowe by decision.
Not saying his era was tougher than today's (even though it was), just saying that Bowe was tougher than Wlad. That's all.
Wlad will forever be haunted in these discussions by his losses, but let's get it clear, two of those only occured because he gassed. If that happens, Bowe and any decent HW who is still standing beats him. One could just as easily take Bowe's fights with Golota as evidence of his weaknesses. Any great fighter had some bad fights, if you take those as indication in a fantasy matchup, you can dismiss any ATG. It seems like there is some real bias against Wlad that somehow his losses count more than for example Louis' loss to Schmeling or Holy's loss to Moorer. If we are talking about both on their best days, Wlad wins a competitive fight. Reasons: 1. The one fighter who beat Wlad only on the merit of his own ability was Sanders, who had the speed, power, straight punches and gameplan to beat Wlad the only way he is likely to be beaten. Bowe is not the charging fast starter like Sanders and has less one - punch power. 2. Almost all of Bowe's glory was build in the trilogy with Holyfield. These fights were incredible wars, but fought with very little skill, hooks, hooks and more hooks and waiting for someone to fall first. Since Bowe is the bigger fighter than Holy, this kind of fight suited him. A fight with Wlad would be lot more technical. Bowe never mastered straight punches, which would be his doom. One inch in height matters a lot if the smaller fighter relies on overhand punches and hooks and the taller one has a consistent hard jab and a lethal straight right.
