As bad as Bowe has looked, if Bowe is really willing to take this fight for an average payday (50% of whatever money they can get for the fight), there is a good chance it may happen.

Bowe is a big name but not much of a fighter these days. Gomez could use the exposition and it's a low risk/big reward oportunity for him.

I don't think Bowe has the cardio to keep up with Gomez.

The athletic commissions that grant boxing licenses must be more selective in awarding credentials to aging fighters. It is their job to protect fighters from themselves when the mind is still willing but the body can no longer respond.

Gomez is one of the most underrated guys around. He made ten defenses fo the cruiserweigth belt, adn then went on to have good wins at heavy agasint SSS,Virchis, and Mcall.

I had hoped years ago that when Bowe first came back, he would make some noise. But I hope he doesn't hurt himself here.

I know buses have maximum occupancy limits that are based on how much weight they can support...what about boxing rings? :think

I agree, he's been a very high caliber fighter. I wonder at this stage if he has much left though. He got a legit beatdown by Vitali. Of course, Bowe should have absolutely nothing left. And irreparable testicular damage from the foul pole.

Yeah, I just can't say how sad I am about all of this. I made a thread a few weeks back talking about how when Bowe first came back, when Vitali had his first WBC reign, how I had literally had a dream about Bowe getting in good shape and fighting for the belt. i was ridiculed.

I knew immediately after his first fight that it wasn't going to happen, and it certianly won't now, but its just sad that Bowe got so close to greatness. Sometime I love the guy, and sometimes I hate him for so often taking the easy route, and sometimes I just kind of feel sorry for him.

As for JC Gomez- I would love to see him get one more shot agaisnt Wladdy or Haye. Not saying he would win, but I think he deserves one more go around.

You guys know how I feel about Bowe, the man is/was my favorite fighter. But this has to end now. Years ago I was saying "Yes, let's see what he has left." But now I know that he is done being a serious fighter. And it is probably for the best for his sake. I heard that he recently got knocked out in sparring by Mike Marrone, who isn't exactly a huge puncher. That just goes to show you how much Bowe has left. He used to have a chin of granite, and now he gets knocked out by Marrone? Sad.

I was in Bowe's camp years ago, he was doing well then, but after the first Golota fight Eddie Futch got really angry/frustrated with him. He did not train him for the rematch. Futch made Bowe what he was, made him the best, but Bowe did not put in his best and Futch rightfully was angered.

    Damn straight. :good

I hoped we'd never see him in the ring again and it's sad to see him getting knocked about by guys he would have walked straight through in his pomp. He can still shine in patches but he has regressed terribly and I hope he never fights again. Like you he is one of my favourite fighters but I would rather remember tbhe wars with Holyfield than the stories of Marrone.
