    Undefeated?

If the fan man incident hadn't occured, he very well would of won the second Holyfield fight.

Going 3-0 against a prime, motivated Holyfield would arguably be better than any of Marciano's wins.

He'd be 44-0, 5 wins away from what Marciano accomplished.

    Thoughts?

Conversely, the wins against Holyfield could mean less - it was the fact that Holyfield was able to battle and beat him in the second fight that made Bowe's victories in the first and third of higher value.

A trilogy where one guy wins all three is rarely as valuable, and Holyfield's reputation would not have been the same as it is now. The Bowe II victory, along with the Tyson victories, are the biggest of Holyfield's career and without it it's not quite the same quality.

Thinking of an example here...if Ray Mercer retired in a huff after losing to Holyfield in '95, it wouldn't be such a good mark on Holyfield's record without Mercer's efforts against Lewis and Witherspoon the next year.

That your permanent Anti- Marciano- threads really sucks...

Looking for input on a fighter on whom opinions vary.

    Anti-Marciano.

    Sure.

I´m not often here on ESB, but when I look sometimes here what´s going on, than I always see new Anti- Marciano- threads, all created by you, Russell.

I see the fan man incident helping him no end, his eye was busted big time, he had the look of desperation; then the fan man comes in, and Bowe gets the eye sorted as best you can, to the point where he could fight with less desperation when the match restarted.

The Golota fights are such, that the '0' (if he had won the Holyfield rematch) would of been a mere statiscal anomaly, much like Leon Spinks and Trevor Berbick can say they beat Ali.

And whenever I see YOU on here you're doing nothing but sticking up for a singular fighter.

Do I hound you about it and accuse you of bias?

Because I lost interest in writing in forums (that much like I did in the past), you don´t need to wonder why you get criticized for that, I remember spontaneous many threads where you flay Marciano indirectly ("Would Marciano Suffer Under...", this thread, etc., I could name many more), what would you do when you notice that I create every day threads about a fighter where I don´t give him the respect he deserves and make stupid comparisons?

    The hilarity continues.

Since you're "not on here very often", I'll bring up the fact that I make more threads in the classical forum than anyone.

The very smallest number of them pertain to Marciano.

But they obviously draw you out like a shark smelling ****ing blood.

Luigi is a good poster and a pretty good guy. Yes, he sometimes takes it personally when people question the greatness of a great white fighter who existed before Christ was born, and yes he is attracted to these threads like a moth to a kitchen light. Still, he's a good guy, who like the rest of us, stands up for the fighters he believes in.

The entire point of this board is to debate different points, and I'd love to do that with him.

Sadly, all he does is post after me pointing fingers instead of putting anything out there to debunk it.

At one point, his favorite word was stupid. He would call me this on a regular basis if I dared say something against one of his favs. I finally asked him to give me another name like Shmuck, cocksucker, moron, dip**** or diaper stain, etc. Anything different would be a nice change.

I cant stand that "Fan Man benefitted Holyfield and hindered Bowe" CRAP.

Bowe was cut and looking tired when that flying clown arrived, people say "... but he was coming on strong" because he had landed a few punches in the TWENTY SECONDS before fan man appeared. Or "Holyfield was known to gas in long fights" - nevermind that Bowe ALREADY started to breath heavy, and was 10 pounds heavier than their first fight.

It's not exactly untrue that Holyfield started to gas badly around that time.

LOL, Bowe's cut was nasty, the fight was in danger of being stopped if Bowe kept taking that sort of punishment; the stoppage helped Bowe no end.
