Riddick Bowe's potential

Newman did a good job with Bowe guiding him to the title, but once he secured that huge contract with HBO he screwed off as bad as Bowe did taking him on a world tour, because as he said, the world needed to see the heavyweight champion. They bought a bus called the Bowe bus and stopped at every BBQ in the country.
He returned Bowe back to Futch a fat slob. Newman forgot that hard work and discipline was what was needed for Bowe to be successful.
Bowe came out of the olympics wanting to prove himself as a pro, and he was the one who pursued and earned Futches confidence, by doing the things Futch told him to do before they even started working together.

The story goes Futch told Bowe to run a certain route every morning and that he was going out of town and when he returned he would make his decision. Futch didnt really didnt go out of town, he waited at the bottom of the hill to see if Bowe was doing his roadwork. Just as he was getting ready to leave Bowe came down the hill. That was the start of their relationship together.
Bowe is a typical story. He was already a fighter with lazy tendencies, once the title and riches comes, thats the true test of a fighters focus and dedication. As they say, its hard to get up at 5 in the morning to go run when your sleeping in silk pajamas.
