I keep seeing Mora's name floated as a legit opponent for Pavlik, but the guy has not beat a single combatant in the top 20 at 160. Pavlik -Mora would be a complete waste of time. It would tarnish Kelly, and send Mora into retirement. Bronco on the other hand is now the NABF middleweight title holder, and even though he is considerably past his best, I think he can still give alot of younger guys a very long night. In other words, I think McKart can function as a solid gate keeper. In addition, winning the NABF title is a very traditional part of the path to a world title fight. Granted, it does not have the kind of prestige it had when guys like Frazier and SRL won it, but it does still carry some meaning. The main reason "Superman" challenged Pavlik back in July of 2006 was that he thought taking the NABF title from him would be the fastest way into the top ten at 160. He seriously underestimated Kelly, went in with a stupid fight plan, and got KTFO for the first time in his long career. Now he has that title, but is rated at something like #32 at 160. So why not McKart vs "The Latin Fake?" If Mora could beat Bronco it would show that he has at least enough skill to go 12 rounds with a cagey southpaw. Up to this point he has never even been in a 12 round fight. He had one scheduled with Eric Regan, but for some reason changed his mind and insisted on a ten round non-title fight. Moreover, I don't think Mora can beat the aging Mckart. They would go back and forth for a few rounds and somewhere mid fight Bronco's experience would take over. He would hand Mora his ass on a boxing glove several times in the middle rounds, and then score a late tko. Bronco would get a well deserved good pay day, and people could quit making ridiculous suggestions like Pavlik vs Mora. Boo
I don't think much of Mora at all and I very much dislike his attitude, but I think he gets past an old McKart now. Pavlik, on the other hand, would stop him.
Mora slithered his way out of a championship fight with Taylor.....do you really think he wants a piece of Pavlik????LOL He just wants to keep his name out there to hopefully cash out one day.
Hard to say. I think a fight with Mora and McKart is a "pick 'em" fight, and I'd lean toward the proven - although declined - world class fighter in McKart. Pavlik would, indeed, annihilate "The Latin Fake." :nod
That's my point, more or less. If Mora could get past McKart, maybe he deserves a modicum of respect. Especially since JT only last about 2 minutes longer than Bronco against Pavlik. Until Mora beats a McKart, Zertuche, Zuniga, type fighter, he needs to shut the **** up and so do his fans. They guy has 19 fights and his best fights are against tomato cans and an underweight Manfredo. It is time for him to step it up, or get out of the game. Boo
I dunno how good or bad Mora is. I don't think he's a fake for not fighting Taylor. I think he know he made a bad choice and is now willing to fight anywhere. He still a prospect and he needs a step up fight to prove if he's the Latin Snake or the Latin Fake.
No more need for Mora to be tested by a Mckart or Zertuche type fighter. He just got a gift draw against the #88 ranked fighter at 160. Bronco or Zertuche would be a huge step UP. boo
I've never taken Mora seriously, so the outcome of this fight doesn't surprise me. No ****ing way he should get a title shot. Let me beat at least one guy with a regular heartbeat first.
