Did he laugh about it or what did he say? He must have been surprised.

He did laugh a little. He said he's a 53 year grandfather and is nowhere near boxing shape. He's also said he's financial sound and has no need for such crazy thing as to box again. He is still in boxing but more on the promotional side. He'll leave boxing to the younger guys.

Exactly! and Leonard won't do it. Hearns probably started the rumour! lol either that or Uncle Tom did, I know Uncle Tom is excited about this one, his delusional ass is probably thinking of a title run.:hat

hearns was fighting more recently and I did see him in an interview where both him and srl were together and he was dead serious about a 3rd match. But I think SRL is very determined to not fight again. I remember hearns was sadly fighting recently even though hes sluring but checking boxing rec he hasnt fought since 2006 so hopefully he quite for good.

I dont know if Hearns has money problems like people said but I am pretty sure SRL is well off so he has little incentive to fight.

He hasn't lost for yeeeeeears. The lost to Uriah Grant was because of an ankle injury... amazing for such an old man really.

I was shocked to hear about him knocking out 2 Light Heavyweights in 05 and 06. I guess its true the last thing to go is the punch.

Oh it is amazing that he was still able to compete like that. But also sad at the same time cause I dont want to see anyone with slurred speech still in the ring.

He fought John Long in 2005 and then Shannon Landberg in 2006. both guys had winning records and Landberg had about 75 fights or so- Hearns easily won the rounds and scored a 10th round knockout over Landberg. He scored an 8th round knockout over John Long a year before. He could not throw his right hand straight anymore, so that is why the guys lasted long into the fight. Hearns power is not what it used to be at all, but he still has all that experience, so he held on and wore the guys out with occasional landing. But to say he can fight sharp now I am not sure. He used to fight so quick and sharp but that is all gone now- he is slow and pondering a bit and throws the right but it misses it's mark a lot. I am not knocking the great Thomas Hearns. He is an ATG, but he should stay retired. Those two fights were a little grueling for him and showed an aging man. Incidentally he is 61-5-1 with 48 knockouts and Marvin Hagler is 62-3-2 (52). They have the same amount of fights. Hagler has a higher knockout percentage believe it or not. Probably because Hearns had better opposition later in his career with guys he could not knock out at the higher weights.

Tommy did ok in those fights. They were just tuneups to get him in shape. Tommy has said in the last year he wants to fight again, but at 51 years old who knows if it will happen. Tommy fought more real legends than most fighters ever do. Cueves, Leonard,Benitez,Duran,Hagler,Hill etc etc. He won 3 of his titles vs. HOF fighters and beat Duran in what should have been a unification.

    I hope it's just a rumor. What's next? Holyfield/Tyson 3: Battle of the Grandpas!
