Its funny all the guys thinking parker was robbed when parker himself doesnt even agree with any of you!!!!! lol, u missed his post fight talk so, he says he lost, yes lost, he was not the best man on the night, his words, so maybe u should hook up with him and convince him he actually won the fight??
The right man won, but it always leaves a bitter taste in your mouth when you know the cards were so stacked against the fighter that lost. Joshua is good enough to beat anyone without resort to hometown judging or refereeing, and his victories would mean a lot more knowing they came in totally neutral surroundings. No one wants to see a guy with hometown cooking in his favour, regardless of how genuinely good he is. It always leaves too much room for question marks.
In terms of who landed the most punches in each round, it statistically and officially goes like this Round 01 - Joshua Round 02 - Parker Round 03 - Joshua Round 04 - Joshua Round 05 - Joshua Round 06 - DRAW Round 07 - Joshua Round 08 - Joshua Round 09 - Joshua Round 10 - Joshua Round 11 - Joshua Round 12 - Joshua The fact is, Joshua threw less, but landed more (37% success rate). Parker threw more and landed less (20% success rate). People see Parker throwing and think he's landing. Another words, they don't know how to score a fight. The judges got the fight SPOT ON.
Official CompuBox stats for power punches landed are a bit different. Round 01 - Joshua Round 02 - Parker Round 03 - Parker Round 04 - Joshua Round 05 - Parker Round 06 - Parker Round 07 - Parker Round 08 - Joshua Round 09 - Parker Round 10 - Joshua Round 11 - Parker Round 12 - Joshua So do you like Joshua landing 8 jabs and 4 power punches, or Parker landing 6 jabs and 5 power punches in round 3? Or Joshua landing 7 jabs and 2 power punches, or Parker landing 3 jabs and 5 power punches in round 9. But in the end, that is only if you pay attention to CompuBox, something that is known for being ****.
The scoring was worse in the Wilder--Ortiz fight. Then again, when was the last time a Haymon fighter was the guy getting screwed?
Joshua did finish more strongly than Parker but all those early rounds when nothing happened just go in the Joshua column. It's almost like the scorecards are pre marked.
Parker said during the post-fight press conference “when we were on the inside and trying to work, he [motions to separate them]. We tried to communicate with the ref, but he didn’t really speak English. But I wanted to work on the inside. I guess if I was on the inside, I could’ve done more and could’ve thrown a bit more punches.” Kevin Barry: “Look, obviously when one guy’s got a 76-inch reach and the other guy’s got an 84 or 85,” Barry said, “it’s very important for us, when we do close the distance, that we’re able to work. And unfortunately for us, the referee didn’t allow us to do that. I tried to speak to him when he came out of the back, and he had no idea or understanding of the question I asked him … yeah, because of the language. David Higgins: “The referee stuff was interesting. Apparently the commentators, the English commentators, they were getting frustrated with the ref pulling the guys apart. But our team signed off the referee. I won’t use that as an excuse. Would we sign him off again? No.”
Parker barely landed any significant shots the entire fight, I don't think ppl realize you can't LOOK busy, you have to actually land. I didn't really give Parker any rounds unless I was being generous which was about 2 rounds, the replays show all of Parkers punches missing but a few... You cannot win a fight off the back foot going backwards and getting beat to the punch. Ask ppl which all these rounds Parker won and there's no answer BC then they have to show where the more Parker shots came into play.
Boxing is not scored by who landed how many punches. (Yes, its plays a role but its just one criteria )
You only count "power shots" that are actual power shots and effective. Not one time was Parker effective. This fight was a dull one, and Joshua's jab was just as effective as Parkers "power shots", which were mostly to the body, Joshua actually landed more power shots to the head. This along with effective aggression, landing more punches in every round, ring generalship, meant that Joshua was always going to win the rounds. A fighter fighting on the back foot, whose only success is through the body, and having a success rate of only 20%, is not going to win rounds against a boxer who is controlling the fight and having twice the success rate and especially to the head.
