Big Dan said that Arum's plan is for Lomachenko to win tomorrow, win a title in January, and then do a Rigendoux-Lomachenko match up around April on HBO as long as Rigendoux wins on Dec. 7.
he (arum) wants lomachenko to be the record for shortest fights to hold a belt.. (2nd fight, against winner of orlando and cruz)..if this was to happen, i would pay to watch it... two greatest amature of all time fighting each other... i think arum have bigger plans though, to make rigo move from 122. (rematch with donaire at 126?)
so loma the 3 fight veteran will be fighting the seasoned 12 fight world champion next year. Lolzzzzzzzz
So Bob wants to match Lomachenko up with someone from the division below while Donaire, who's actually in his division, gets to ride off into the sunset against the weaker opponents at 126 (or below given how he's fighting Vic atsch).
Half of me wants to see this and the other half thinks its a bad idea. No matter how great an amateur Lomachenko was he still needs to gain pro experience or may very well get his confidence shattered and that never a good thing so early in a career. Pete Rademacher was an Olympic gold medalist and challenged Floyd Patterson for the heavyweight title in his debut. He hot ko'd and than fought highly ranked Zora Folley and was stopped again. His career was for **** after that. Now Lomachenko is far more talented than Rademacher was, but it goes to show what can possibly happen. Im a firm believer in fighters developing a solid pro style by working there way up the ranks. That said, IF it does happen there is no way I won't be rooting for this kid. And if he DOES win....my god that would be monumental!!
Imagine if Loma beat rigo in his 3rd fight, would be one of the greatest wins ever. Won't happen in my opinion though
That would be premature. Give the guy some time build up his pro style and get used to much longer and way more tiring fights!
yeah i dont put too much stock into what arum says...he also said this week that floyd wants no part of cotto after he gave d-rod that stunning 7th loss of his career
