I did not say a better fighter, "in" fighter..... meant to say inside fighter. Just meant to say less space is better for Taylor (at least vs. Pavlik) and more space or outside fighting favors Pavlik.....
In that case I would probably have to agree with you. A lot of Pavlik's power comes from leverage, and the way he steps into his punches. It would be very difficult for him to utilize that power against a guy who could stay inside, in the pocket, and bang the body along with some uppercuts. However, it would take monster strength to pull that off. Pavlik is very strong, and not opposed to roughing a guy up. Boo
If Taylor scored a knockdown against Pavlik in the 2nd round it is certain that he could do that again, but he needs to establish a different strategy this time around. Pavlik usually comes forward throwing his jab two times maybe and then throws a freaking big straight right hand. I believe that if Taylor puts pressure on Pavlik on the inside and throw combinations at Pavlik consistenly he could win some rounds and who knows maybe KO him. That is IF Taylor comes prepare and forgets about going to lay on the ropes like in the first fight. IF not, he better prepare himslef for another KO loss.
The thing about JT knocking down Pavlik is that JT hit Pavlik with 2 of the cleanest shots you will ever see and it didn't take him out. That has to be devastating for a guy like JT's morale. And that showed how good of a chin Pavlik has. The theory on how JT should approach this fight is interesting. Some say he should fight inside while some say he should box for 12 rounds. I agree that JT is better at getting off punches in close quarters but i think he needs to box for 12 rounds. I just think he should not get into Pavlik's range. If that means pulling a PBF, that's what he should do.
well that makes sense since JT only fought half-assed the first time around (since he did not take KP seriously) according to JT
