    how is the best way to throw a right cross to the side of the jaw

    Jab step to the right and drop it.
    Or pull-back counter with a step to the rght and drop it.

    Throw the right hand a bit wide but not too wide so that it goes right behind the opponents left hand (if he's holding his left hand up).

    I think Gerald McClellan had a really beautiful overhandish right hand.
