I love fighting south paw I feel faster stronger and hit more fluidly and at better angles.

but my defense goes abit wonkey and as soon as I feel abit rocked I switch back to orthodox so i dont lose my balance:oops:

    anyone else like this ?

P.s. What do i do ? orthodox and be a tad crap or south paw and do well but correct my major flaws?- I also dont think my coach likes me going southpaw

Im a left handed orthodox fighter, so I'm kind of in the same boat. Although, I was always orthodox and not a switch hitter. My jabs/L hooks/L uppercuts have always been very good and came naturally since it's my dominant hand, right handed punching took some work but once I got used to it and dialed in the technique they're not far behind my left hand. The nicest thing would have to be my jab, you can really snap it out and pound on people since your dominant hand's in front and you'd have more natural confidence in that arm and it'd be slightly more solidly built from your whole life.

I have a friend who i box with who fights southpaw but he's right handed, and to be honest he's better by a mile like that

i'm a lefty and i started out boxing as an orthodox, but eventually i realized my style was fit for a southpaw, so i switched to a left handed stance. go with whichever stance fits your style.

I'm also the same, I'm right handed and box southpaw. Just feels natural

I'm a right handed Southpaw. My Jab I'm told is hurtfull due to it being my dominant hand. Left hand is not so good but it tends to catch people by supprise as so little work is done by it. I'm sure my left hand will improve as I get better.

One thing I've started doind is quickly switching and jabbing with the left which seems to catch most of my sparring partners off guard due to the suddon change of reach with my left hand.

Started of boxing with a bag in my bedroom and didn't realise what I was doing wasn't the norm for a long time. It just feels natural. If I go authadox it feels very awkward.

I know your a keen snowboarder kk, what is your natural stance on a board ... regular (ortho) or goofy (sthpw) ?

I'm right handed, stand in an orthodox boxing stance but ride in a goofy/southpaw stance.

That will be because you are left foot dominant (even if you have always condidered yourself right-footed).

I use to....Alot of people convert to southpaw to keep their power hand in the front, and southpaws have converted othodox to do the same thing. To eachs own...Either stick with your dominant hand in the back or practice mastering both stances

Possibly, to be honest, I feel entirely comfortable standing southpaw too.

One will feel more natural than the other. When you react to something have a look and see where your feet are placed. As a reaction you will revert to the dominant foot/leg.

Yeah, I was told that a good way to determine your dominant foot is to imagine or actually have someone shove you from behind, the foot you instinctively put forward to keep your balance is your dominant foot.

Its not uncommon at all. Many fighting styles have a reveres stance form boxing. I'm working towards getting my Dan in Judo I've always been right handed which is a southpaw stance in Boxing but I've been forced to change due to a bum right shoulder and despite being left handed it feels awkward but I have no choice as the right shoulder can no longer bare the stress of the throws.

I take it you mean you have always been right hand lead as opposed to right-handed. As right-handed is traditionally authordox in boxing as opposed to a right hand lead southpaw.

Let me see if I can phrase it better. In many martial arts the traditional orthedox stance is what boxers consider southpaw or right hand lead. For me I have always boxed southpaw, as well as golfed, batted and bowled.
