Right handed guys with strong lefts

Felix Trinidad but I'm not sure whether he was a converted lefty or right handed.

 

Gosh darnit guys, no one's mentioned Patterson?? A natural rightie! Sure he had the wicked combos but this right handed fighter was always looking to launch that big left hook to shorten the proceedings if you will

 

It's pretty common for conventional fighters to have there left hook as there strongest punch mostly because the power in the left hook comes from the shoulders, chest and pivoting off the left foot as opposed to the right cross which the power comes from the tricep and rear leg. I'm a right handed guy that had a better left hook than right cross when I fought. It's not so much that the left arm is stronger it's more the mechanics of the punch, shorter distance to the target and the fact that the left hook will typically land on the side of the face spinning the head.

Ever notice how short guys like Frazier, Patterson, Tyson threw murderous hooks and tall guys like Lewis, Klitscho, Hearns had crushing right hands. Leverage and technique matters more than strength on boxing.
