Are you sure I think he was a converted southpaw. “A key point to understand about Hagler is that he is a right-handed person who has been coached as a southpaw (unlike Minter who is a true left-handed southpaw.)”
As far as I know hagler was a natural southpaw that was forced to fight orthodox, since nobody wanted to fight southpaws. I may be wrong though, ofc.
You are wrong. Hagler fought southpaw though he was naturally right handed and could switch hit effectively.
It’s extremely common, nothing wrong with it. Lomachenko and Shakur Stevenson are both right handed southpaws.
Like 90% of the southpaws from the Philippines are converted right handers because they wanna copy Manny
I suspect it's probably a stupid idea that results in having less power in the back hand and probably isn't offset by much more power in the jab and the hook which isn't a throwing motion. It might explain why Usyk and Loma don't have great power. I thought Ward was one of these too, from memory. Roach claimed Fury had more power in his LH from the southpaw stance, and Fury is apparently LH, so there's another fighter with less power than you'd expect in the backhand from the RH stance. I highly doubt Pac is naturally RH, playing guitar RH is common because there are hardly any LH guitars. If he is, just an exception to the rule. Honestly, what would you rather have, a big backhand and decent front hand or a below average backhand and slightly better front hand that is mainly used for jabs anyway. Even if the hook was bigger, I think the backhand is more versatile for power shots so it's still better to have the power focused there. Imagine if they'd made Wilder a southpaw, he would have been massively handicapped.
Wilder doesn't box well. His power got him where he did so nobody would take that away from him. Ward's left hand was a major asset. His hooks were quite powerful, same for ODLH.
