Whenever we do mitts, my trainer lets me do a right hook. However, other trainers in my gym dont call it a right hook but a right cross. From what I understand, a cross and the hook are the same but for some they are different.

a cross is a right hand over the jab hence the word cross and a right hook is a right hook. i prefer not to throw them they leave you open for 2 many counters..

I don't use my right hook that much, being an orthodox fighter. I lead with my left jab or hook, or overhand right if I'm feeling good.

Only time i use it is when im up close on the inside, or when there's a perfect oppurtunity to use it

Right cross isn't the same as right hook.

I've always been taught to avoid throwing the right hook (except on the inside) as it leaves you open for a counter.

A right cross is no the same as a right hook. A right cross is a straight right over your opponents jab

A lefthook requires you to pivot the foot to put bodyweight into your punch, but you can't pivot the right foot for a righthook or you go off balance. But the bojo punch resembles a lefthook but you dont pivot the foot just the hips.

    A right hook does exist.

The right hook and right cross are different punches.

Typically you'd use the right cross instead of the hook.
