And a 122 pound Cuban ffs how thus guy think that it is even possible to build him into a p4p star is beyond me. Even if he was 22 I don't think it would be possible
Seriously though, well done for Rigo. If this gets us the best fights and gets him paid, I don't care what kind of loss Roc is taking on the deal.
That's what I thought, he wasnt just getting 10 million up front. Still, this is big for Rigo, Im happy for him. :deal
Ah, I misunderstood the title. He's actually getting $1.4m per fight. Looks like those other guys will have to find another excuse not to fight him, because Rigondeaux is the best paid super bantamweight now.
Tbf that doesn't mean his opponents will be paid well too. Look at ward he gets 2 million a fight and they look to find opponents who will accept between 100-200k If rigo is getting paid that much it could mean there will be none left over for his opponent
source? 1.4m is a **** load, and rigo isnt getting santa cruz or any other big name besides lomachenko, i cant imagine them putting in such a big investment.
Nope, that's incorrect. The bigger the fight budget is, the bigger money will be there for both fighters. Rigondeaux is fighting a stay-busy fight against some random opponent that nobody's ever heard of, it is natural that the opponent won't receive some elite-level money. Still, the opponent is more than likely receiving the biggest paycheck of his career. Obviously, the budget for Rigondeaux-Frampton (for example) wouldn't be the same as for Rigondeaux-Francesico. Rigondeaux-Frampton would be much bigger and without a doubt would cover Frampton's paycheck (unless he prices himself out and blatantly asks for $3 million like Leo Santa Cruz did).
Not really ,rigo doesn't bring in much money, paying him 1.4 million a fight wil be hard enough to recoup let's be fair. Unless roc nation wants to operate at a loss it could be tricky to pay his opponents good money
I'm not sure if he's getting paid 1.4 for this particular fight, that's some Spanish source El Nuevo Herald came up with. I'm not saying that Roc Nacion is not operating with a loss (in fact I don't know what their revenues are), but the fact is that they are able to seemingly overpay Ward and even Cotto.
They more than Likey are operating at a loss. They want talented fighters though probebly look ing to build a brand. However a nearly finished cotto, a 35 year old bantemweight and an unreliable guy who doesn't seem to like fighting might not be a good foundation
i love reading all these armchair businessmen here...... acting like jayz is sitting there pulling the strings on these moves....he has trained businessmen making these moves..... if you want to be a player, and you have the capital, you have to spend some money
Hey, if you're going to get in with a world class beast like Drian Francisco, you gotta be taken care of financially.. :hey
