Yeah, this. Great for Rigo but I am sometimes puzzled by the moves of Roc Nation. I mean, it's cool they are willing to pay great fighters like Ward and Rigo so much money. As someone else stated they are likely operating at a loss right now with the intent to build their brand as a stable of top notch fighters.
Good to see someone invest in Rigo. Now get him some decent fights and a suitable platform and let him show those tremendous talents.
And it seems Rigs will be fed a steady diet of Latin guys his size which will help him build up a following.
Rigondeaux's tv ratings are par for the course when comparing his HBO fights to others. There seem to be a whole lot of Rigondeaux haters that don't know what the **** they are talking about.
In reference to the Lomachenko fight Rigondeaux states that he never spoke to Arum about fighting at featherweight. He said the fight would have to be at 124. He then said Harass Bob Arum to make the fight, Sign the deal. Lets get it in writing, and Ill beat him up. Hes still mad that I beat up Nonito Donaire. " :rofl
So, Rigondeaux with Roc Nation? I guess we will never see him against half of his best possible options, all with PBC. We all know PBC and Roc Nation don't do business and appear to be rival promoters based on comments from each.
Same thing happened with 50 cent... Rigo is a horrible investment. Just because you have money doesn't mean you're incapable of making mistakes.
Rigo has talent, but fighters are paid a risk premium. Rigo has a low beta. Does that make any sense to you? Basically, if you want to make money, you have to take risks. Now, if you find someone that's willing to overpay for a product, than that person didn't do his research. If you look at Rigo as if he's a product, as I said before, he's in the maturity stage and closing in on decline. Do you believe he should get paid more putting on a bad show? If he wants to get paid, he should take a page out of Floyd book and sell his soul to the devil. It's simple. There is always a price to pay. Look at Cotto for example. Cotto doesn't fight the same negative type of fight that Rigo does an probably isn't even capable or at least hasn't been trained to do so, but here he is headlining a PPV. And not only that, but this fight will be a great fight for boxing fans. It's because he takes risks, so he gets paid a high risk premium.
