It is really allowed for some idiot to use this as a title in a sport where every year there is deaths and serious life changing injuries, we've just today had the news Erik Skoglund is in a coma. The disgusting threadstarter should have a ban, and all the people who liked his post are scumbags too.

The fighters possess nuances within their dimensions, but they are not multi-dimensional fighters. Take your defence of Rigo for example - you state that "Rig just doesn't have the style to make it a fight that has all the drama fight fans want to see" as though it's a mitigating factor instead of rightly acknowledging it as the chronic deficiency that it is. Elite fighters aren't as absurdly contrary to the ritual extreme that Rigo is, because they believe in their ability to come out on top when engaging an opponent. Nobody's suggesting that Rigo should ever lay his chin on a platter and swing away - Norris and Curry certainly didn't do that when they met, but they engaged with a high level of technique and education. When they need to or feel a conviction to do so, elite fighters can do different things. Leonard switching to stalker and finding a way to win while trailing to Hearns is the standard of versatility and endeavor we should be holding elite fighters to, and the same goes for the calculated risks Norris took in stylishly despatching of a highly skilled guy who was pushing him hard in Donald Curry; that endeavor doesn't always have to ultimately be successful in every last instance, but the point is that the endeavor, the ability and will to explore ways of skinning the cat, should be present at high levels.

Boxing fans are so soft and easily satisfied anymore. Rigo looked elite to you tonight? I realize that Loma has to take a degree of credit for making Rigo look less effective than we've seen him look in the past (literally years in the past), and Rigo's lack of size was also a factor, but the abject one-sidedness of the bout has as much to do with the Cuban's lack of stylistic dimension. What I'm asking you is, did Rigo show the industry, versatility and guts of an elite fighter tonight? I say no (and furthermore, I say that he never has). If you saw different, I don't know what to tell you.

With all due respect, because you're a generally civil correspondent and a solid poster (unlike some of the other mouth-breathers taking offence at criticisms of their idol), if you firmly believe that you saw anything more significant tonight than two glorified B+ fighters, one old and one in his pomp, engaged in a relatively tame degree of combat, there's no sense in my sitting here and arguing it with you. One might as well argue over a puff of air, the substance for debate just isn't there. That BS is for the birds. Some of us are long enough in the tooth and have seen it play out enough times before to know that one doesn't have to bother extensively engaging those who swear they see the emperor's new clothes (like Mr Logic and InsideJab) - let them yack and time will do its thing and reveal all fools.

They both have multiple dimensions....Loma moreso. Rig and Loma have many layers as boxers.

Regarding Rigs style not producing much excitement and drama in his fights....it doesn’t mean he’s deficient or lacks defensive dimensions...it just means mentally, he’s more of a cautious boxer, similar to Mayweather Jr.

There are flashes and moments when tactical boxers and ring practitioners like Floyd and Rig show their ability to use their skill, craft and savvy to take risks that we usually don’t see from them. When they show these wrinkles in their game, it’s pretty memorable. We wish they would show these dimensions more, but it’s just not in their DNA.

I do agree that we should hold elite fighters to a higher level that was expected from boxers 30, 40 or 50 years ago. The mentality of boxers today are a lot different. We do have some guys we consider “throwback” fighters but there aren’t many of them, unfortunately.

Rig definitely didn’t look elite....but I consider the fact he was facing another elite with a very unorthodox and awkward style...I also factor in Rig was mentally a beaten man who quit on his stool. I don’t think size had anything to do with the outcome. Loma’s speed, youth, footwork and skills were just on a different level and negated Rigs.

Rig didn’t show guts or versatility tonight but he has shown those qualities in the past. Loma was just a different beast he wasn’t prepared for. I honestly think Rig had a lot of ring rust due to inactivity. His timing was off....which impacted his accuracy but also Loma was just operating at a level that Rig wasn’t ready for.

Rig showed many dimensions against Nonito and proved he could come back from adversity a number of times after being dropped in fights.

I don’t believe Rig or Loma are B+ fighters at all. If that’s your position, I have no problems with that. We just won’t agree. I understand you appreciate the golden eras of Boxing when the best always fought the best...when all elite boxers put it all out on the line in every fight...I definitely see the stark contrast from Boxing 30 years ago to what we typically see from our top fighters today....I still love the sweet science and appreciate many of the top boxers who have the old school mentality

I disagree. I think the small handful of racist Eastern Euro backing trolls on this forum need an enemy so they make **** up, like saying Lomachenko is the most hated, or Golovkin is the most hated.

Golovkin gets criticism because he fought a bunch of no hopers. ****ing old arse shopworn Ouma? Wade? Geale? ****ing ridiculous. Now that he has stepped his opposition level up, he's not destructive anymore. Lomachenko on the other hand, is more skilled and well rounded. He just doesn't have power.

Exactly. The best two P4P boxers in the sport. Both A Level talents that are exciting to watch. Both nice guys.
