Rigo has been disgustingly avoided..however.....it had nothing to do with his hand, but more to do with him being totally outclassed.
Rigo will probably have to go on the road for decent pay days now. Still can't believe that he only got 400K to fight Lomachenko. Anybody know if Rafale was posting truth about that? He could have took that 400K a year and a half to two years ago, when Arum offered it at 126. He'd have been a bit younger, and Loma would have had to cut weight. Would have been a more favorable match up for him then. Now he'll probably end up in Japan, or over in the UK, against guys more emboldened, by the blue print that Loma laid. I know if I was Frank Warren, I'd be pumping Tete up, to take the fight now, even at 122.
Don't forget that Lomachenko was fighting at 126 when he beat Gary Russell, then he moved up to 130 and knocked out Rocky Martinez!!!!!!!
1 round in nearly two years vs a guy two weight classes above ya and at his ripe old age. What I don't get is 400k is hardly a cash out, wtf?
Or... thats what happens when you are an inactive 37 year old and you jump two divisions to fight a freak of nature in his absolute prime.
Burnett (a lacklustre unified titlist if ever I saw one) certainly isn't going to accept his challenge anytime soon, so that'd be a good fight for Tete to try to add something big to the modest legend he's carving out, as well as a decent measure of what Rigo really has left (Tete's pretty cute, and much rangier, but Rigo anywhere near his best would be technically dominant).
