    Thank god. At least these two have signed. It's pretty sad that not only do you have to pray for the stars to align for a good fight these days, but you also have to pray one of the fighters doesn't hurt their owie and back out.

    I don't see Rigo winning unless he controls the pace and moves tactically. Donaire hasn't really bothered to box in his last few fights, so he could lose control and momentum in the fight without him realizing it.

    You know if nonito wins this, within a calendar year he'll have beaten every title holder in the division.

    I see him taking this with ease though.

    Ahora sí le pueden poner el cuño, porque ya hay firma.

    Luego de un tenso período de negociaciones, Top Rank y Caribe Promotions llegaron el viernes en la noche a un acuerdo para conducir la carrera de Guillermo Rigondeaux y salvar el combate en cual el campeón cubano de las 122 libras intentará arrebatarle los títulos a Nonito Donaire en busca de un rey unificado el 13 de abril en el Teatro del Madison Square Garden, Nueva York.

    “Estoy muy feliz de que finalmente esta pelea que tanta gente esperaba se va a dar’’, expresó Rigondeaux. “Hemos vivido momentos complicados, pero el sentido común y la buena fe se han impuesto. Mi carrera será más fuerte ahora que Caribe y Top Rank han pactado para ayudarme. Ahora puedo mirar sin temor a la cita del 13 de abril. Sólo le digo a Nonito que se prepare para lo que le viene encima’’.

    Aunque a principios de año Top Rank y la televisora HBO daban este enfrentamiento como un hecho, en semanas recientes crecieron dudas en torno a la posibilidad de ver a ambos guerreros juntos en el ring debido a problemas legales entre las dos compañías promotoras por el derecho de representar al cubano y ya se hablada de un potencial reemplazo contra Donaire, el armenio Vic Darchinyan.

    A esto se sumó el cambio en la esquina del antillano, quien retuvo los servicios de Pedro Luis Díaz en sustitución del entrenador Jorge Rubio, algo que no complacía del todo al mánager de Rigondeaux, el irlandés Gary Hyde.

    Sin embargo, representantes de ambas compañías lograron este acuerdo de último momento para romper un impasse en la carrera del doble campeón olímpico.

    “Esperamos que esto marque un momento especial para Rigo que el 13 de abril le demostrará al mundo la clase de guerrero que es’’, afirmó Boris Arencibia, presidente de Caribe Promotions. “El Garden, HBO y el propio Nonito son tres ingredientes especiales para que Rigo brille. Ha llegado su hora más importante, la que podría definir su carrera. El lo sabe y todos lo sabemos’’.
