Well if I was getting money from sanctioning fees, I'd strip him too, he barely ever fights, and when he does, nobody watches, nor does he get any TV revenue.
I heard he went 2½ years without facing a mandatory... it's about time he got stripped by the WBO. He can probably hold his WBA belt indefinitely if he wants, they don't care about mandatories or even fighting in the same weightclass.
its understandable because they are not making any money off a dusted belt. Rigo is going to appeal but dont think he will win..haha..the twist is...WBO stripped Rigo for 30 months inactivity and a fight happening in dec which is for an international WBO belt will be upgraded to vacant WBO battle. guess who is hosting that dec fight? none other than Donaire.. hahah. talk about working the business side eh..but if rigo wins the suit, that winner in dec will challenge Rigo..or a twist might be Rigo gets stripped, Donaire will probably win, and they setup a rematch for the belt. edited** not inactivity but no defenses to wbo rankings.
His not being frozen out of the sport his been sitting out his contract with Gary Hyde so he could join someone else (who apparently offered more money) Hyde did a good job with him and rigo turned his back on him for the promise of more money. Thus is the reason he hasn't been fighting
The way HBO treated Rigo was bad, but people make out like Rigo is not to blame in anyway. He had a 2 fight deal in Japan, only fought once. He signed with a mikey mouse promoter and got into disputes with his management. He also called out Lomachenko, and when he's offered the fight he doesn't take it. He called out Loma, so he should have gone up to his weight to fight him.
He couldve EASILY doubled his best payday by agreeing to fight Lomachenko and used the rehydration clause to make it even. He's frozen himself out. Much like the 172lb diva he emulates. :rofl
****!!!!!! Scott quigg will probably get upgraded to full champion so will want 50/50 against frampton so negotiations will have to start all over again and apparently they were so close..... Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!
In all honesty despite his talk of wanting to fight loma at that point in time he wouldn't have even been able to take the fight given he was sitting out his contract
