Just watched it, was away at a stag do over the weekend. Scored it 115-112 Rigo. Didn't think it was the domination some have made out, but still, an impressive performance.
Bad scorecard, the comments people were saying about the fight probably affected your scoring you probably thought it was gonna be a Pac vs Margarito type fight
I didn't read any comments before watching it, read them after it, not even been home long looking at this http://fightscorecollector.blogspot.co.uk many had it similar too
Rigo Donaire 1 - 10-9 2 - 10-9 3 - 9-10 4 - 10-9 5 - 9-10 6 - 10-9 7 - 10-9 8 - 10-9 9 - 10-9 10- 8-10 11 - 9-10 12 - 10-9 115-112
I can see maybe 3 & 5 and the knockdown but 11 and 12 Rigo won without a doubt Them scorecards on that site are terrible but a black guy is never gonna get a good scorecard against a filipino Someone said all the hbo team couldn't give Donaire a round apart from the 10-8, it was really nowhere near a close fight
Grow up, Rob. As usual you try to change the argument to suit you. You made out like I was avoiding coming on. I just wasn't around. And as if you can criticise any other poster for their conduct or making bullish picks that turn out wrong. I'm not breaking my heart over it.
Aye ero, agree,he did just enough every round, when me and my mate watched it its what we said, and yes, some of his movement was good, but for me most of it was not good at all,at times he was actually running away with his back to donaire. The 1st round was very good IMO,both stood there ground and rigo looked good,we thought it was going to turn into a great fight, but then he got on his bike and legged it. I don't know that much about either fighter, have watched both before, but the little lads don't interest me that much, but this was being built up to be some super elite level fight when in all honesty it was a tad ****:good
Rigo did what I suspected he could do (back when I was calling for this matchup when Donaire beat Montiel and I felt was being severely overrated). Since then I don't know what made me change my mind. Perhaps it was Rigo's uninspiring performances whilst Donaire was enjoying an excellent run of wins. And come fight night, Rigo reminded me of everything that once convinced me he would be a problem for Donaire. And Donaire just didn't rise up to the challenge like I assumed it would.
Rigo Donnaire 1. 10 9 2. 10 9 3. 10 9 4. 9 10 5. 9 10 6. 10 9 7. 10 9 8. 10 9 9. 10 9 10.8 10 11.10 9 12.10 9 ------------ 116 111 That was how I scored it when I watched it live. Havent had a chance to look at it again.
First time I've ever scored a fight properly. I had it 114-113 donaire. Clearly I wasn't doing it properly so just trying to work out where I went wrong. I think it was the fact that most of rigondeaux's punches were landing on the gloves, I scored the close rounds to donaire as he was the aggressor, is that wrong. Tbf I think I did pick a hard fight to score as there was some debate. Did anyone else notice Tim Bradley say he had donaire up, just before the knockdown and then somehow he had rigondeaux winning at the end?!
You're a wee **** stirrer Rob:rofl To be fair some of that what DFTaylor wrote I kinda agreed with prior to the fight i.e. size of both fighters being a factor etc....
The fight was actually easy to score. Not only did Rigo throw more punches but he also connected with far more punches then Donaire in pretty much all the 12 rds and his punches were harder more solid shots too and when Donaire did land something solid Rigo answered back with 2 or 3 of his own so it wasn't a difficult task to give nearly all the rounds to Rigo even the quieter ones. Unfortunately the Boxnation commentary was provided by Colonel Bob who is a Top Rank man and biased towards their star fighter Donaire. The HBO commentary was much more on the ball and telling it like it was. A fight that i find difficult to score is something like Calzaghe vs Hopkins where Calzaghe threw more punches and connected with more punches but Hopkins landed the more significant eye catching punches which made scoring rounds very difficult and the reason why the fight still splits the fans today.
He didnt turn his back and run away he turned his back so the punch landed on his back/shoulders, he'd throw a punch then turn sideways so Donaire's reply doesnt hit his face Wasn't the best choice of fights to score first but it wasnt that close tbh, even some of the punches landed on the gloves he completely stopped Donaire from punching, if theres 2 guys fighting and one guys hitting gloves and one guy is hitting air you gotta give it to the guy hitting gloves, aggressor or not Donaire wasnt matching Rigo's punch output, plus some of the punches were actually getting through clean they were just so fast Bradley and the other guy were just terrible lol, how he gave Donaire 4 of the first 5 i do not know
