What happened there? There is a lot of back and forth between Conte and that other guy Angel (forget his last name).
Interesting. I plan to watch a few of Donaire's fights again, before Saturday, will keep an eye on this.
wonder how will donaire react to rigo's body punches if he lands them as frequently as he has done in past fights.....mind you, donaire has never seemed hurt by a body punch, but rigo does look exceptionally good punching to the pit of the stomach
Not sure mate i watched Road to Donaire vs Rigondeaux and noticed all the training was with a S&C coach who i've not seen before. No Conte or Garcia in the clips. Then saw a article saying Donaire on working without Conte. Let me try get article if i can find it.
Donaire said it's his choice to work with him or not when asked about Conte who ended there working relationship without public reason. Interesting..
That other sports scientist Angel has been having a bit of banter on twitter about Conte, there seems to be more behind this split between Conte and Donaire. Also, I wonder, is Donaire tight at the weight or does he make it easily enough?
He answered a few questions about that at the presser. He clearly thinks he's only got a couple more fight at his current weight.
There has been talk of both Rigo and Donaire moving up a weight after this fight anyhow, not sure it will happen, but it would be good for the likes of Frampton and Quigg if they did.
The Donaire-Rigo weight in is 2pm ET - so that is 7pm in UK this evening and it will be streamed live on Top Rank's website: http://www.toprank.tv/index.jsp
This is a great fight...maybe one more for the purists then the slam bang brigade but just like Bradley-Provodnikov proved a few weeks ago it could even end up much more exciting then expected. Rigo has only shown flashes of brilliance in his pro career but this could be the fight where he delivers a masterpeice performance. Although his punch output is low and he can lose concentration especially later in fights which has resulted in flash knockdowns he's also a very crafty counter-puncher and places his punches with pin point accuracy in the same way Bernard Hopkins does. I've always been a fan of Donaire but i think his move up to Super Bantamweight has taken away some of his size and Power advantages...he's obviously going to have size over Rigo but i think their power at Super Bantam is about equal. At times he struggled in his fights with Vasquez jr and Mathebula and both showed how beatable Donaire is. Nishioka and Arce both turned up to collect one last paycheck so i don't take anything from those fights. There is no doubt though that Donaire can finish the fight against Rigo with one punch and even end it early in RD's 1 or 2 so my prediction is going to be: DONAIRE to win only if he lands a KO punch between RD's 1 to 6. If the fight goes past RD 6 or the full 12RD's i see RIGO winning either by late stoppage most likely on cuts or via a close UD/MD/SD.
Donaire will dominate Rigo,no doubt about it IMO. Rigo holds no real advantages in this fight, you can say speed, yeah but Nonito's excellent timing will negate it. Donaire could outbox him or counter off the front foot and out a beating on Rig, Guillermo is just far too negative against US domestic level fighters, can you imagine how negative he'll be against Donaire? Guillermo has also been wobbled a few times recently against guys who punch nowhere near as hard as Nonito. Donaire mid rounds knockout or wide UD.
