Rigo vs Loma meeting at the middle at 126 would be the perfect way to end the year.

"If Rigo's good enough to win". Spoken like a true Loma fanboy. Yes weight classes are irrelevant, why not just fight at 135?

I've definitely used anecdotal evidence, never claimed otherwise.

I also don't think it's exaggerated at all. Look at history. Mayweather gets little credit for Marquez(smaller size difference than rigo/loma), GGG gets little credit for Brook, Bhop gets little credit for Oscar and Trinidad(even though both were fighting at 160 already).

A win over a fighter jumping up 2 weight classes does not make him p4p #1.

Yes, "If Rigo's good enough to win". I didn't stutter. Lomachenko has no business losing to him, so if Rigo wins, he'll get nothing but credit from me. He knows what he signed on for.

If they made it at 135, you'd end up with the same product in the ring- Lomachenko in the high 130's on fight night. That's his optimal weight right now. You can make it for Cruiserweight, that doesn't mean he'd be coming in at 200 for it.

Anyways I'm going to sleep. Honestly did not make this thread for a Loma circle jerk fest or Loma hate. I actually like Loma but you have to fight trolls with trolling with dumbass statements like don't put Crawford in the same breath as Loma/Rigo. If y'all could STFU with this loma circle jerkfest and be kind and talk about upcoming fights, or potential fights in 2018 that would be great.

Just out of interest how do you see the fight going?
I'm seeing another RTD...that would be 4 in a row!

This is one of the top fights in boxing even with Rigondeaux moving up 2 weight classes.

Both are 2 of the best amateur boxers in history and currently 2 of the top 10 pfp fighters as well.

With their legendary amateur careers and current high pfp ratings this is a bit of a historic match up.

This is one of those fights that I'd like to see a catchweight at though. Do it at 127 or 28 so the weight difference isn't as big and its still a jr lightweight fight which keeps Lomachenko's title in play.

Rigondeaux is still a great talent and a Lomachenko win would still be a massive win for him(and vice versa obviously) it just elevates, an already great fight, if they were closer in weight.

What? Thinking it was a bad fight at 126 and a worse fight at 130 is completely consistent (as you concede in a later post), not a case of moving the goalposts at all. I'm glad he finally moved up to beat Walters, but that has next to nothing to do with his dragging up Rigondeaux even more than he originally tried to. 126 only looks comparatively fair now because 2 divisions is an even tougher jump and it's now actually the middle, rather than the most convenient weight class for Lomachenko.

Lomachenko was being a weight bully then and he's one now; personally if you're a fan of his, I'd think you'd want him to either closer to the middle or get in an opponent where the outcome isn't determined on the scales.

Loma will win, then he'll move on. The weight provides for a nice free pass for the whooping that will inevitably come Rigo's way. As stated before, I'd rather have seen Loma unify & then move up for Mikey. I hope that's the direction he takes next. Honestly? Rigo wouldn't beat Gary Russell Jr. Loma beating him doesn't show me anything new I don't already know, and that's that no smaller man is going to beat him. Point blank.

I'm fully aware I'm devaluing this win, but it's not a 50/50 fight & it wasn't at 126. That's just calling it as I see it. Rigo will surely have some moments- he's too good not to- but he won't come close to winning. I'll leave here for a month (after making a post where I eat crow) if Rigo wins more than 12 combined rounds on the cards or wins via stoppage.

Watch out, Byrd could give him 12 in one go you know!

(That being said, Rigo just asked them not to have Byrd for his fight, so perhaps not)

Loma will make Rigo look like a child, mark my words, I either see a knockout or a 10-2 round for Loma, he is really special.

It should be at 130. 126 is a step backwards in Loma's career. All this doing is delaying the Mikey fight. As far as fair goes it should be at 126. However I'm just not interested enough in this fight to want to see it happen below 130.
