The replay showed Sod blocking (at least partially) Rigo's first right so he was already in a defensive mode, just couldn't handle Rigo's second shot.
I agree with you some Mexicans must step up to the challenge the table is served the problem is convincing them to do it.
I find it way more interesting to discuss how corrupt/backward the sport is for not punishing boxers after incidents like this. I'm especially referring to Floyd's way worse sucker punch to Ortiz (as he actually held his hands/arms way low). Any credible global/national federation should/would investigate incidents like this and take proper action. A ban, fine, disqualification, no-contest. You name it. Floyd's fight with Ortiz is still nicely in the books as a genuine and honest KO4 win. Pro boxing? Most behind the times sport in the world.
I think Kotietgym could get a rematch and get this fight ruled a NC. First, it was a foul that caused the first damage. The referee is SUPPOSED to give him up to 5 minutes b/c he was injured by an accidental headclash. Yes, accidental unless Sod meant to hurt himself. And the ref didnt give Sod 5 minutes. He gave him like 15 seconds then called time in while Sod was still shaking off the cobwebs, and rubbing the knot. Yeah, Sod didn't HAVE to move to fight, but if he doesnt come to the center of the ring, he's tko'd according to the rules. His corner should have spoken up immediately....not with excuses....protect yourself at all times....this wasnt a break, and Rigo wasnt expecting touch gloves. I don't want to take the win away from Rigo....he did his job...got in shape, made the fight, and came to win BUT that ref...... How bout letting a guy see fukking straight before you send him back into a fight with a primed hungry fighter.:---(
Santa Cruz where you at kiko Sound off like you got a pair crikets ........................................................chirping
The Floyd-Ortiz fight was quite the boondoggle. But Ortiz brought it upon himself with that headbutt he gave Floyd. Sod just wanted a touch of the gloves and Rigo just cheap shot him.
Rigo was classless and Sod was trying to be polite witha scorpion... Rigo lost a chance to impress promoters now that he is a free agent. He could have played with this guy for six rounds putting a beating on him fighting in an agressive way like a cat playing with a mouse. But did this. Not a clever move.
He got a touch of gloves. I don't know if you have ever boxed but I've touched gloves at the start of the round in SPARRING and immediately been hit, and the unanimous verdict from the coaches watching, was keep your gloves up. Its the type of thing you learn as a beginner.
 He should have told the ref he needed more time:yep The ref just walked him back into the middle and POW:bbb:dead Oh well:smoke
:nod Dazed or not (from his own intentional head-slam, key point that many keep omitting from the discussion...) there was plenty of time for Sod to realize he was expected to defend himself. There was a whole interchange with the ref in the corner; Sod clearly understood that he was being motioned to continue and did not argue or give the ten any further indication he was unready, and proceeded to subsequently take 7 paces out toward Rigondeaux after time in had been called. This is 100% on Sod, and 0% the fault of Rigondeaux or the ref. ...and, no, I'm not Cuban. 0%. :yep Just the voice of reason. (in a sea of haters and impressionable torch mob types)
