Nope, Rigo is very calm in the ring but when he sees an opening and jumps on you.

He's just patient and takes his time. Nothing wrong in making your punches count. He has the skills to easily outbox his opponents without getting overly aggressive. Sometimes it can work against you, look at what has happened to Gamboa. He got caught coming in too aggressive and suffered a flash knockdown twice, in which he caught alot of criticism for.

I think he can be aggressive, he just really hasn't got pushed to go all out like that, not yet.

Honestly, I don't think he can do it. Not effectively at least. Not yet. Being aggressive and getting your ass kicked doesn't mean you have the ability to be aggressive.

I think a good trainer will add that dimension to his game.

I mean if you look at the Landy fight, where he won by decision against a guy he should've easily knocked out, it kind of shows that Rigondeaux isn't comfortable moving forward.

You don't necessarily need to move forward to be aggressive, again watch the Andrade fight. He was unloading on him with incredible accuracy, but was still being safe

If that's the way you see it, then you could say he is lacking a dimension of being effective while on the front foot.

he knows how to win fights, it may be boring if the other guy runs because he will just be getting enough to win by UD, he is that kind of fighter. He knows he will win either way.

Fair enough, but you could say the same for Floyd.

Floyd is pretty decent on the front foot. The Judah fight is a good example against a decent opponent.

I have NEVER been less impressed with a so-called super prospect. I don't see him rasin' any hell in the pros.

guy has more boxing skill than the margarito's and urango's of the world

i also wished he would up his workrate a bit, but that's just his style, at least at this point in his career. If he doesnt have to throw a hundred punches a round to dominate the round, why do it? I still find him fascinating to watch most of the time, there's just a feeling that he's right about to do something crazy slick and explosive like some of those body shot KO's he's got.

But that also wasn't his best fight. I'm trying to think of a way to explain it in words.

Rigo excels by making his opponents make mistakes and countering. Stepping forward and applying pressure would be stepping away from his gameplan and possibly putting him in a fight that he doesn't want to be in.

You could also say the same for Floyd, you can't chase him or outbox him. In the Corley fight Floyd was a bit more aggressive and got caught against a man who has no business to be in the ring with him

Yes. I think he's still good enough to win a title, but at some point, his complete lack of aggression and unwillingness to throw punches to open a guy up will bite him in the ass. It won't be Cordoba (who I think will get knocked out by walking into a counterpunch), but eventually someone will just outwork him to such a degree that he takes a loss.

I was at the Addy fight and it was frustrating how he wouldn't even try to be aggressive against a defensive fighter he so clearly outclassed. Considering that, along with the interactions between him and Freddie Roach, I think he's just not comfortable being aggressive.
