    Yes.. another Rigondeaux thread.

But when someone asks to to make the 'perfect fighter' what attributes do you generally go for?

    - Super fast (check)
    - Southpaw .. for awkwardness (check)
    - Great defence (check)
    - Great footwork (check)
    - Great boxing skills (check)
    - Great power (check)

If god is real then Rigondeaux is his fighter. :deal

As a Lomachenko fan I hope to God we can see a fight between the two.

It would be one of the greatest fights from a purist standpoint of all time.

He didn't looked all that godly when he got gunshy against Cordoba or at time against Maroquin.

He's great at what he does, but put him in against a rangy guy that can box, and we'll see what he can do.

You have to be versatile in boxing. Rigo could stay at his weight class and it may be years and years before he has to fight a rangy guy that can box.

It's even worse if the guy has punching power too.

Rigo would be forced to be on the offensive. At the very least, I would like to see Rigo vs Mathebula.

The best guys in history can do both. Sugar Ray Leonard couldn't outbox Hearns, so he had to be the aggressor. He had to use aggressive defense.

Can Rigo do this? I don't know.

I know you deride Pacquaio a great deal bluebird, but Pacquaio steps and uses his explosive style because he's often undersized and has no choice, but to fight aggressively or be shut out. He also enjoys putting on a fight.

Can Pacquaio box, absolutely. Can he box off the back foot as good as Rigo. No.

On that I agree with you, Rigo is excellent on the back foot, but so is Hopkins.

Hopkins got into a fight recently where his opponent wouldn't fight Hopkins' fight and picked him apart with single shots and combos at times on the ropes.

    Remember, Rigo barely beat Cordoba.

He's so fast he can land that lazer left even from miles out.

He clearly beat Cordoba imo, never believed the hoopla with that fight. People just want to finger point 1 fight as a fighters 'weakness'. Happened with Mayweather vs Castillo (injured shoulder) and Duran vs Leonard 2 (didn't train properly). I also do not deride Pacquiao, you must have the wrong guy. Pac is my favourite active fighter by far.

Questionable punch resistance is seemingly his only weakness...

Nah, the closest thing to a perfect fighter is the Roy Jones from the montel griffin rematch

Yes. Great power. If only he turned pro in 2000 :( Would have ruled a weight division for 15 years at least. Morales.. Barrera etc wouldn't have got past him.

Rigondeaux is great at what he does. Just wish he would fight more on the inside. He hasn't shown that total package just yet.

When I think of perfect the first guy to come to mind is Finito Lopez.

It looks like he got clipped at 1:13 and almost went down.

I'm not sure he can fight aggressively in the pros.
