Man this is a such a huge fight in terms of the skill level involved. This would catapult each fighter into Top 5 or even Top 3 P4P status. I know Rigondeaux would easily beat Mares in a similar fashion he did to Donaire. Rigondeaux would be a Top 3 or Top 5 P4P at the least after this fight. I also think he can overcome the size difference easily. Do you think this fight will happen? If I were Rigondeaux, I would take whatever tests are necessary and give up a bigger split of the purse to make the fight happen.
Not so sure it happens. Boxing politics could get in the way. I'd love it though. Would be a massive fight, I reckon Mares could cause some problems but Rigondeaux would win a close decision. I actually think Mares does better than Donaire did yet I still believe Donaire would spark Mares out. The winner of this fight would only really need one or two more big wins to be flirting with the p4p1 spot imo. This is an approved based post by BasedGod
