Nonito Donaire, in a fight which he became a unified champ in his 12th pro fight.

Whilst I would like to see Frampton in with Rigo I don't blame him for not bothering with him. Your opinion of Frampton - which will be in the minority as the man in the street sadly doesn't know who Rigo is - won't pay his bills.

Yeah, I know. From the business point, the more winnable and more profitable Santa Cruz fight makes more sense. But since Rigo is his mandatory, and Santa Cruz is not going anywhere (assuming he won't go anywhere near Lomachenko) I'm just hoping Frampton would say "the hell with business, I wanna be great". It's just wishful thinking of course.

I think the worry is a Rigo loss would drastically lower his fee for future fights against the likes of LSC. Win or lose I wouldn't be surprised to see Frampton take him on within his next 3-4 fights. He'll be looking for signs of decline too.

Not nice for us a dedicated fans but clever on his part.

Donaire is a good fighter no question. That`s not much of a list though.

Both Rigo (in 2015) and Frampton (2016) have ducked Wake.

The term "coward" is used too loosely by these keyboard warriors.

Like many others, Rigondeaux is a hell of a boxer, one of the best top 5. However, in other areas he seems not to be the sharpest knife in the drawer. He is avoided because he is levels above the top champions in skillset and therefore he would require a special relationship with a special manager/promoter to overcome business issues which will affect him.
First he has this small manager/promoter relationship with Caribe who doesn't seem too competent in advising his interests. First they made the mistake of signing Rigon with Bob Arum the leech, who went out of his way to deter Rigo's career. Then they sign him with Roc Nation who has so far not been able to secure any decent bouts for him.
Why he was advised to go to bumfuk Russia to train makes me think he went there for steroid treatment.
On top of that, his manager/promoters don't even seem to be capable of doing standard visa paperwork. What they hell is Rigo paying these clowns for. He'd be better off doing as BHOP did with self management, but Rigo seems to lack the intellect to have this option.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is a stigma among Cuban fighters. They get to a level of building their name, get some good paydays and totally stop trying. In their world $300,000 is like $300 million.

Look at the talent that half way made it big and dropped the ball.
    \
Richar Abril- Never tried to avenge that Rios robbery. Took his check and went into hiding.

Yuriorkis Gamboa- Drank the 50 Cent Kool-Aid and left a decent situation and landed in a ****ter one. No even Al Haymon wants this guy.

Guillermo Rigondeaux- Weird loyalty to Cuban drug runners Caribe Promotions.

Erislandy Lara- Got the opportunity he needed to become the king and squandered it by barely fighting against Canelo.

Joel Casamayor- Fought all the names people say Mayweather ducked ( Freitas, Campbell, Bradley) and still never broke through to the public because, people don't invest in talent in America they invest in gimmicks and spectacles.

Hopefully Luis Ortiz becomes the man, but he is going to have to do what no Cuban has done before... SPEAK ENGLISH!!!
