true, cordoba is a BIG test for rigo, but just watch him take him apart.i haven't seen many fighters who have everything like rigo has.he truly is special.even after 6 fights.

hope this fight comes off.can't wait.

I think it's more Irish fans know about him because of the Dunne fight.

His win over Caballero and the fact he was unlucky to come away empty handed against 122 No. 1 Poonsawat is the reason they think he has a chance. And a legit reason too, although I personally think Rigo is a superstar in the making and will beat him.

Cordoba came here to Dublin for the most significant world title fight we've hosted in 15 years, and most of the Irish posters here were either at it or absorbed by it. That's probably the reason for the vested interest :good

It's a ballsy step up for Rigo and one I can't wait to see

Im not surprised Cordoba took this fight (he fights everyone) but Rigo is surely going to be tested this guy lost a close decision to the number 1 guy poonsawat in thailand and holds a win over the giant 5ft 11inch Cabellero. I think Cordoba underestimated Dunne and didnt take his voluntary in ireland seriously and paid the biggest price by losing title.

I know Rigo has 2 gold medals but at only 7 pro fights in a 12 round fight against a well up for it Cordoba is a very brave move.

But if Rigo is as good as Ronnie sheilds says then this could be very interesting battle.

Wow, Rigondeaux is not wasting any time. This should be a stiff test, if not, Rigo's the real deal. To be honest I've not been impressed by Rigo and the hype. A great amateur fighter doesn't necessarily mean a great pro champion. This fight will show what he's all about.

Show that he do what he's doing to quality opponents. Lets see what he does next before we hype the **** out of him. This ain't the amateurs anymore.

So you don't think anyone should be considered a hot prospect in that case?

Some people already crowned him champion. Before I saw his first fight, i was hearing unbelievable hype (Atlas calling him one of the greatest fighters of all time, etc.) then I watch his first fight and he fights with a stiff style and little head movement, so I didn't see what they are seeing yet. He can still be a great prospect, I just wanna see more to see what he's really obout in the pros.

Here an entertaining amateur fight against one of, if not the, last guys to beat him:

I (re)watched some clips on youtube from Cordoba and I have to say that technically Guillermo is far superior imo.
