1> Where did you hear it was $500? 2> "he wants to play in the big leagues but he don't know how so he conned Rigo ( that was the first straw ) into signing with him . " Are you saying Rigo is stupid? Looks like you are? 3> "If he had been honest with Rigondeaux from the begining none of these would've happened " how was he dishonest? Rigo broke the contract. That is why Hyde won the court case originally 2 years ago. If anything it seems rigo was the one being dishonest. 4> " Never seen a " manager " that has to go to court so much as this guy does , ¿ what does that tell you ? . The guy is vermin . " The fact that he keeps winning tells me that there is sufficient evidence for the legal system in the USA to back him up? What does it tell you? Also - if that makes him Vermin it tells me that your blinded by your own Rigo worshipping that you can't even see what is happening here. You want to know what - if Al Haymon is the right manager for him I'm sure it will happen. Have you ever tried to manage a fighter yourself?
¿ Are you related to that conman Hyde ? 1-) IT WAS $500 , everybody in Cuba knows that . 2-) No , Rigo is not stupid but like 95% at the time he was hungry and needy . Like I said he could've signed that "contract" for less money than that . 3-) The reason Rigo was unhappy with this so-called contract was that it was full of iregularities , it wasn't a good contract to start with ( and Rigo having a beer in a Havana cafe without a lawyer by his side would've signed ANYTHING put in front of him ) so the moment he landed in Miami and hired a proper lawyer to review it he understood what a crap piece of **** he had signed . 4-) When you have your " manager " going to court a lot to enforce something that's obviously flawed ( contract ) that tells you a LOT about this guy ( Hyde ) . ¿ Why didn't he gave Rigo a PROPER contract once he landed in the States instead of going so much to court trying to keep the old one ?, because he knows he got away with a bargain , he took advantage of Rigo's poverty at the time and now wants to cash in . He's NOT an honest person . Period . He should let Rigondeaux go , he has made a profit on that $500 investment many times already , enough is enough . Peace .
! Exactly ! , $500 was a LOT of money in Cuba at the time , not enough to buy you a house but enough for eat for a month and that mofo Hyde took advantage of that . Like I said above : 95% of Cubans were starving at that time and Rigo could have signed that " contract " for much less money . If you are an honest person once Rigo defects you should offer him a new one , a better one and if he had done that I'm sure there won't be no problems between them ... but noooo , this leach knew he had made a killing the moment he got on a plane from Cuba and that's the difference , that's the real reason of all this court cases : RIGO DOESN'T FEEL GOOD WORKING WITH SUCH A PERSON , it's NOT about the money , it's about their RELATIONSHIP . I doubt that , once Rigo get rid of this leach , he would commit the same mistake and for Hyde .... well he better milk it as much as he can because he WON'T work againg with any elite Cuban boxer , everybody knows about him in Cuba ( I'm making sure of that trough my contacts there ) and what he's done to Rigondeaux boxing career ( unlike Oner who's got a good reputation in Cuba ) , people now knows he's not a big fish in boxing , just another Arum wannabe . Peace .
Sad to see Cuban fighters constantly exploited by unscrupulous managers and promoters. These kids have no idea what they're getting into when they defect. There should be a support system amongst Cuban-Americans to protect their interests once they enter the States, although it sounds like they've already been screwed over before they even leave Cuba.
Seems to me that Hyde did all the hard work of getting rigo out of Cuba and set up in america only for other promoters to start whispering in rigos ear once he'd landed. Now despite what is in the contract or not in the contract, the fact is that rigo was a fully grown adult when he signed it and knew what he was signing. Rigo trying to wiggle out of the contract now is dishonest on his part hence why Hyde keeps winning the court cases.. He should be a man about it and honour the contract until it has run out and then finish with Hyde and go elsewhere.
Hyde exploited a desperate man with no understanding of contracts and offers Rigondeaux nothing as a promoter.
that $500 contract talk is a load of **** rigo and all cuban gold medalists get $300 a month stipend from the government i doubt rigo or any other cuban gold medalist would sign a pro contract for that much when they have every promoter in the game offering them six figure deals
Just found this old ESB article. Maybe Rigo is a bit of a pain in the ass to handle. :think http://www.eastsideboxing.com/weblog/news.php?p=23953&more=1
Rigo didn't feel comfortable at wild card, he barely ever saw Roach. Language was a barrier.Dont forget that Khan- one of Roach's holly cows- is complaining about Freddy and talking about a new trainer. I liked Rigo with Ronnie but he feels ok with Rubio.
Khan's not really 'complaining' about Freddy. He just recognises what Rigo did did early on - that Freddy can't devote his attention to all of his fighters. And it's not just about Roach. It seems like Rigo's got too many people whispering in his ear. He was being sued by someone else at one point, too. I think it's a combination of him being inexperienced on the business side of things, people trying to take advantage of his talents, him being ill-advised, etc, that's contributed to this situation.
That would be because Khan's a moaning bugger who refuses to acknowledge that he isnt gods gift and wants to blame everyone but himself for his recent downfalls.
These kind of decisions suck. There should never be injunctions in boxing matches over disputes with promoters or managers.
