I know im likely to get laughed off the boards for this but I was thinking that an argument could be made for a bet on Amagasa.

He is 18/1 which is a massive price.

At almost 5'11 he is ridiculously tall for a super bantamweight and will have a near 7inch height advantage over the diminutive cuban.

Rigondeaux has had some problems in the past with tall fighters. Cordoba dropped him and came on strong late and Roberto Marroquin also hurt him. At 5'8 both these guys are well above average height for the weight.

Will Amagasa's reach advantage negate a little bit of Guillermo's normally overwhelming speed and defensive talents? Both Marroquin and Cordoba seemed to be able to find him much more easily than did other, shorter opponents.

He has 19ko's out of 28wins and though he has 4 losses he has never been stopped and most of those losses came earlier in his career. He also has a win against former alphabet title holder Ryo Li Lee.

If somebody asked me to pick a winner I would pick Rigondeaux but this guy seems like much better than an 18/1 shot especially with the fight being in Japan. I think it might be worth a small punt.

When you reach the level Rigondeaux has, height advantage doesn't mean all that much.

Plus you can pretty much take an inch and a half off of that, nearly every boxer is billed as taller than they really are.

It's hard to imagine a 5'11" fighter at 122 lbs he's probably an spaghetti.

    I agree with the OP.

I can't believe how much Rigo is overrated on here solely because he beat a completely shot Donaire. Who else has he faced? Noone but a bunch of bums and journeymen.

Plus he's hiding some china in his whiskers.

Unfortunately very little footage of him out there although the one video I saw of him against ryo li lee he did look a little open. Hands very low. Have you seen a lot of him?

From what I've seen of Amagasa, Rigorous will destroy him!

I seen plenty of him. There also some on Asianboxing.info video section. They got him fight with Nagata which is amazing KO. Like said hand low and wide shot. Open to counter.

**** it anyway. I followed through and made the bet based on what I said in the opening post. Amagasa at 18/1. Sounds like I wasn't too far off with the prediction.

Anyone know the scores at the time of the stoppage?

Ah fair enough. Still though tall guys seem to be able to find him and he can be hurt. Same story as with Cordoba and marroquin. They were all getting outboxed but if you have a long reach and bring pressure you can negate a little bit of his speed and defensive advantages.
