Fernando Montiel just won yesterday by KO and its claiming being after a belt at 122...i dont think he'll go again after Nonito( it should be a restraining order after what happened the last time they met),Nishioka in Japan is a possibility and Rigondeaux is much closer with TR around to make it happen...Rigo looking for someone with enough balls to fight,Montiel looking for redemption and a belt at SBW...how do you see this fight?
i say Rigo by KO within 6 rds

Rigo would take this one. Could be entertaining as Montiel would try and make things exciting while it lasted.

I would rather Rigo take on Wilfredo Vazquez jr. and then Rendall Munroe to make a statement against the other champs

after the beating suffered against Arce and Donaire it will be a crime to throw Vazquez Jr against Rigondeaux, the kid needs to fight some other guys to regained confidence.Molitor,Kennedy etc

Perhaps but rememeber that Rigo doesnt hold that much experience so perhaps it would be a good fight but it would be a good undercard fight if Rigo came over to fight Munroe on the Froch-Bute Undercard. is it gonna happen? no. would it make my trip up to Nottingham that much more worth it? YES

he already went to Ireland to fight Casey.I guess if the money is good he woudnt mind.I just dont want to see Rigo wasting another year, im not even sure who Munroe is, to be honest.

I'm not sure if this Tweet means Rigo is no longer with TopRank or he wants to leave TopRank but it was posted a few days ago. It may not be easy to get that fight with Montiel. He also mentions that Rigo is in negotiations with Celistino.

    From @PromotionCaribe 2/29/2012
@FloydMayweather Floyd , Rigondeaux is ready for freedom top rank no more

Rigo would be screwing up his career if he left TR for Mayweather. TR has taken a financial loss so far on Rigo, but they have a lot of important pieces at this weight class -Donaire, Marquez, Vazquez, Montiel, Arce. I hope he and his team aren't this foolish. Mayweather is not a true promoter, he uses his guys as fillers for his cards maybe twice a year, and if they're lucky they might see a minor show in between. Career killing move.

He shouldn't pout (if that's what he's doing), that he's not getting a Donaire fight right away. Donaire isn't going any where and the fight would be very marketable in another year considering Donaire may win the WBC belt and maybe fight Mares and Moreno as well.

No doubts TR has the best fighters but so far Rigo had to go to Ireland and probably Russia because TR cant put any of those "great names" in the ring with Rigo.I dont think its just a Donaire tantrum.

Rigo is just now starting to become relevant. He just won his first title by an exciting KO. TR was talking about him being on the Pac-Bradely card. Man he has to have a little paitence because things are about to take off as he's become a significant player in what's becoming one of the hottest divisions. He may have to defend a couple time this year against moderate contenders, but that's par for the course. Who do you think he'll be fighting if he goes to Mayweather? None of those TR guys for sure. He's an undeniable talent and now a title holder, and no other promoter is in better position to elevate him than TR.

He went to Ireland & Russia early in his pro career, those days are over. The fruits of success are there if hangs in, but if he leaves for something like a two-bit promotion like Mayweather's, it's all over. I like Rigo, I would really hate to see him screw his career up just as it's about to take off. That's the only reason someone like Mayweather would show any interest now, because he's about to start paying dividends. Donaire did the same stupid thing when he thought the grass was greener somewhere else and tried to leave TR, cost his career atleast a year, lost alot of his momentum, alot. From a sensational KO over Montiel, to a boring decision over a midget, to a struggle over Vazquez. That alone is one reason Donaire-Rigo isn't happening, Donaire stock is really low considering where it should've been, plus Rigo's is still rising. Need their stocks to both be high for the fight to happen.
