Great words from a great champion.. I think Mares definitely gives Rigo more problems than Donaire did. He's got a lot more fight in him and won't get discouraged if he's getting outboxed. He will turn it into a street fight, which I think is the best way for Mares to win. And we know Mars is a real champ too, he wants this fight too. Hope these girly promoters quit their bitching contest......
Mares has the style to give Rigo fits, if he can take the sharp counters in return it would be a close fight.
Not as easy as Donaire. Mares is actually capable of fighting off the front foot and applying effective pressure, brings a higher work rate to the table and make things uncomfortable. Nonito was totally out of his element in that type of role. Of course, Rigo's counters give fighters a convincing incentive for the activity to drop off dramatically once they begin to be felt. I think that's what happens here and Rigondeaux likely wins. I'll be rooting for Abner to **** him up though.
Did none of you hear Mares say he was going to stay as a featherweight, he felt stronger, faster, and adjusted to the weight better than as a bantamweight. Either Rigo is going to move up or a catch weight will happen.
mares said before he wanted to avenge his losses to rigondeaux. i get the feeling that was just talk. he's going to avoid him like the plague.
Damn well said by Rigondeaux, hope he get his fight, and he did'nt say that with one bit of hesitation. I believe Mares probably wants this fight also, so there should be no reason why this fight does not get made.
