Even other individual sports like tennis and formula one are different from boxing because they have the established marquee titles and by winning them you become a star and a draw no matter what.

If you're winning the grand slams you get a fanbase no matter what your style and personality is. If you're the WDC in F1 you become marketable and get a fanbase, even if you're not the consensus best driver and you're a boring racer or have a boring personality.

In boxing though casual sport fans and mainstream public don't care who has the boxing titles, winning say the WBC welterweight title or IBF super-MW title doesn't mean **** by itself. Maybe being the undisputed and lineal HW champ is the closest thing to prestigious titles in tennis and F1 since it's the most storied and marquee division and that's why Klitschko was a big draw in Europe despite his boring style, but all other titles and wins in boxing don't mean **** by itself when it comes to popularity and becoming a star.

In other big sports it's different because you can focus just on being competitive in the sport and eventually you will become a star and a draw if you keep winning, but boxing is different, you have to be a fan favorite or at least someone they hate so much that they would pay to see you lose.

Alex is a moron. She can't see why you can watch Lomachenko-Walters over and over, but one can never watch a putrid fight like Rigondeaux-Agbeko even once.

Check out your agenda you ignorant ******. See how that works??! Probably not. You have done nothing but hack on EE fighters while praising Cuban fighters. Yet.. you point the finger at other people and get angry and cry "AGENDA!!" when you get a taste of your own medicine.

You're truly a top 3 dumbest poster ever to post here.

I think in round 4, Agbeko threw less than 5 punches. Rigo didn't do much either. No excuses for Rigo not to slaughter a frightened animal.

As I stated Rigondeaux could have been built up much better. Had he been matched with damn near all face first brawlers like Lomachenko has, he would be more known and have a bigger following. Also people forget the guy is 5'3 at most. So Arum matched him with 5'8 guys twice, one on short notice, and people complained he was boring or didn't look sharp. He was matched with a slick guy, and beat his arse. He was matched with an up and coming guy from the UK, and KO'd him in one round. He gave Donaire a boxing clinic, and then instead of matching him with a name face first Mexican, he was matched with iron chinned, good defense having Joseph Agbeko. On paper that was a good of a match up. Agbeko always brought a good fight prior in his career. Nobody knew Agbeko would come in and pull a Clottey. That wasn't Rigondeaux's fault. Agbeko has an iron chin, and good defense. Nobody in history is going to knock him out if he is in survival mode the whole time, hardly throwing anything back. The fact that Bob Arum often talked about matching Rigondeaux with at the time undefeated Jonathan Romero, shows you, he had no intention of trying to build Rigondeaux up. Romero was 5'9, and an outside boxer type. 5'9 outside boxer, vs 5'3 counter puncher, has stinker written all over it. Yet that is the type of fight that Arum tried to put Rigondeaux in more than once. And if it had of been made, and stunk up the joint, they would have blamed Rigondeaux. All I'm saying is Rigondeaux was clearly not promoted properly by Top Rank. Match him with all face first brawlers, and he'd probably be known as a counter punching KO artist.

The Agbeko fight was Rigondeaux's fault. When you have a guy that is terrified of you and doesn't want to engage, you have to create/force the action. That goes hand in hand with being a skillful fighter. See Pacquiao or Lomachenko. Both guys have a genuine desire to ENTERTAIN.

Pacquiao didn't entertain against Clottey. It was entertaining seeing Lomachenko get mauled by Salido though. Let's see Lomachenko fight some guys 2 to 8 inches taller than he is, who outweigh him in the ring, and see how outgoing he is offensively.

I have been a fan of Rigondeaux since i started boxing, but there's no one to blame for his performances against Agbeko and Francisco but himself, they felt his power and went defensive mode, he should have pushed the action and took them out.
For example: Cotto hurt Delvin Rodriguez at the end of round 2, 18 seconds into the first and Rodriguez was out, Lara dropped Rodriguez at the end of the 6th but was happy to circle around him the rest of the fight.
Rigo's skills are indeed unbelievable, but like or not, if you want to showcase your skills, amateur boxing is the place, Rigo defected because he wanted money but he isn't giving the fans what they want.

This really isn't true. Football teams get slated for using negative tactics all the time with the successful ones under a huge amount of pressure to entertain.

Pretty much any sport I can think of demands exciting play of ta top stars be it tennis or snook. They all call for some pizazz. From baseball to the NFL nobody wants to watch a negative, low scoring team.

The Francisco fight, he took on one week notice. He had just started camp for a fight the next month. He was clearly not in fighting shape, wasn't sharp at all. I can agree, that that one is his fault. We were discussing how Arum didn't try to build Rigondeaux up though, like he built Lomachenko, with favorable match ups against limited face first opponents. Rigondeaux was usually matched in an odd manner, not conducive to great showings due to the choice of opponent, and size disparity. As far as pushing the action and taking them out. Nobody takes Agbeko out, even when he loses. The guy has a great chin, and solid defense. If he's in survival mode, he goes the distance.

I don't feel bad for Rigo, and I do please allow me to explain. He's more avoided than GGG, that sucks as a fellow competitor. You always wanna fight the best. Why I don't feel bad, his lack of finishing a guy when he has he fight won. Also he's been offered career defining fights and turned them down. If you don't have fans and you are offered a fight with Loma or any cash cow. If you truly believe in your skills you fight point blank period. Rigo is a fck boy

Good point. I didn't consider that other sports are free to watch and the athletes are paid based on performance and championships.
