Rigondeaux's punching power... Overrated?

its hard for me to judge someones power with 11 pro fights mostly against bums

his best punch may not even shake Donaire

 

32 fair enough you not a youngster. But are you aware of the task that Donaire has in front off him?

 

Proof, every opponent he has faced has been on the canvas from either a head shot, or body shot. He has body shot KO's, which doesn't have a damn thing to do with timing. You aren't dropping opponents or KOing them to the body unless you have power.

Rigondeaux's issue is that he probably should be fighting at 118. He doesn't really gain much weight after the weigh in, and is usually outweight by 5+ pounds in the ring.

 

If you look at his best opponents. Cordoba went down from a body shot. Ramos was KO'd by a body shot. Kennedy was repeatedly dropped by head shots. He dropped Marrogquin twice. He seems to have devastating power to the body, and good power upstairs, which paired with timing, and accuracy can be just as devastating. How his opponents have faired against others in their careers seems to suggest that Rigondeaux does have good power.

 

Who said he was a puncher? He is 100% speed and accuracy. Btw donaires power is way overrated he couldn't even stop matubula

 

Has no relevance, but if you want to go there. That was Rigondeaux's 7th pro fight. Donaire with much more pro experience under his belt, was getting his face busted up big time by Mathebula. Rigondeaux wasn't hurt by the jab, just caught off balance. Similar to how Clottey was dropped by Cotto's jab. And if you look at the fight, Cordoba was hardly touching him outside of that flash knockdown, as opposed to Mathebula putting hands on Donaire and Donaire looking like he got his ass whooped after the fight was over.

 

What are people basing Rigo having no chin on?

He's got enough power to drop anyone he catches clean, simply because his timing is so good and his placement is so precise. I wouldn't necessarily say that he's the hardest puncher in the lower weight classes, but he's certainly one of the sharpest punchers and that's something that opponents...no matter how durable they may be...need to respect.

 

Let's be fair to Rigo here.

The guy can punch. Not really a one-shot to take you out type of guy, but he's got heavy hands.

It's his accuracy and timing that gives it more of an "umph".

I would say on a scale of 1 to 10, Rigo is at 7.5.

Hamed is on 11 at that scale.

 

He has good power but it's been made to look better than it really is because he caught guys coming forward.
