Rigondeaux's punching power... Overrated?

rigo punches are so sharp, quick, and accurate, that's what makes him dangerous. if donaire gets reckless, he's getting put on the floor. believe that. donaire doesn't match up well with rigo, i see him getting stopped mid to late rounds.

 

Ah yes, the jab. Caught more off balance coming forward than anything else.

With Marroquin, fair enough, he got caught with a flush left hook from a guy with decent power and was momentarily wobbled. It's not as if he was put on his arse. People talk about him like he has no chin whatsoever, or that the first good punch Donaire lands will put him to sleep.

Donaire could indeed KO him later in the fight, but it ain't gonna be that easy.

 

Donaire will knock Rigo out.....................

Major thread detour since this thread is about Rigo's power, not his chin, but anyways:

I agree about the jab in that he was punched of balance coming in.

I'm a Rigo fan but if a guy like Marrowho with decent power wobbles him like he did then you just have to wonder what the result will be from a similar punch landed by Donaire, who is a much bigger guy than Marroquin come fight time and a proven p4p hitter.

Having said that I think we will see Rigo in the best shape so far because Nonito is a guy he has to and will respect in the ring. And with Diaz as a trainer/coach he could pull off a/the decision imo.

I just don't hope Rigo will be too carefull and passive, making for a stinker of a fight.

 

Rigo has good power.

Donaire appears to be training hard out for this fight. So is Rigo! looks like Donaire wants to step it up a notch this year. Expecting an explosivo battle.

 

Correction ; Donaire isn't bigger than Marroquin .( leave alone much bigger)
He does have more power I admit.

 

Rigo's got some pop.

 

I haven't seen anyone compare Rig's power to Nonito's. Rig's accuracy allows him to maximize his punching power but he's not a heavy hitter by any stretch of the imagination.

He has great timing and has the ability to place his punches very well. That has been the main factor for his early stoppages.

Damn those are some shots that shouldnt be having the effect that they did on Rigo he is ****ing China....

The man got wobbled by lesser fighters man, his chin is suspect.... it is what it is stop trying to talk his chin up he doesnt really have a solid chin what he has is the will to get up fight back and win.... give him that.

But dont sit back and lie about the obvious, if Donaire connects solid with his left hook its over for Rigo.

 

btw, that wasn't the only time Marroquin wobbled him in the fight :yep

the short straight right that finished Nishioka would be enough to send Rigo to La la land. the left hook would be overkill
