He didn't go down either time, and if he was legitimately hurt and not just off balance, because the shot, or cuff in the second case, seemed to have him trip over his feet, he recouped within several seconds. His cardio looked shot, and he also looked like he hadn't been in the gym much in the last month. It wasn't his sharpest outing, yet he still won easy, and unless you were giving Maraquine rounds for landing one punch all round like the judges, Rigondeaux won all of the rounds. He didn't look his sharpest, but he got the job done.
That's only because the guy he was fighting threw about 5 punches a round and doesn't hit nearly as hard as Nonito, and he still had Rigo in trouble a few times. Rigos got a great defense but he was in there with a sub par opponent. Make no mistake if Nonito hits him flush with one of those explosive hooks he will knock Rigo the **** out. IF the fight happens I'm down for some ban/avitar bets
Good luck finding someone to ban bet with. I currently have ban bets in place myself for Nishioka to beat Donaire. In a southpaw vs orthodox battle, I'll take the str8 over the hook. Nishioka's str8, superior footwork, and crafty veteran tricks will seize the day. You're right that Rigo does much better when someone comes towards him. Nonito(e) suffers from a manny pacquiao style problem, they're nowhere nearly as effective if someone isn't coming towards them flat footed Mexican style. Rigo's footwork is so good at neutralizing the right that it leaves him less focused on the hook and therefore open to it. I'm not quite sure who wins Donaire vs Rigo. Rigo would give Nishioka a harder fight than Donaire imo. In triangle fashion
Rigo did look vulnerable tonight, and Donaire should really try and have a fight against him. I'm not saying Guillermo almost got beat or that it was a close fight, just saying that the few times marroquin landed, Guillermo wobbled and didn't look good.
I had trouble finding ANY rounds to give Mare, he waited FAR too long for opportunities to land punches instead of creating them. He literally went for whole minute stretches without throwing a punch. Combined with Rigos great defense he barely landed a hand on him. But the fact is when he did occasionally land Rigos punch resistant wasnt good at all man. He's in serious trouble when he finally faces some A level competition And I'm not hating, I'm just pointing out to these guys who were hyping the **** outta Rigo without seeing what he was really made of
Please get it out of your head that Marroquin was waiting too long to throw punches. Realize that is a product of Rigo completely neutralizing Marroquin's offense with sick footwork and hard counters. Its not a coincidence that Mayweather's opponents throw less against him, its the product of great boxing ability.
No **** there was a reason he wasn't throwing (Rigo wasn't there to be hit), point is, as I said, he was looking for an opportunity that wasn't there..... What he could have don't is pick up his punch output, even though he didn't have a stationary target throw some **** out there to give him something to think about. A two fisted sustained attack is your best hope against a slick defense, and looking for openings ain't gonna get you there
Marriquin is better than the clowns Rigo has been fighting before. Ricky Hatton's Irish cousin? Seriously. Rigo is a serious talent and would beat anybody but he really needs to step it up.
I think rigo's chin is made in china and if he fights donaire and gets hit with donaire's left hook I think he is getting KTFO. But the problem is finding that chin, the guy is a defensive wizard.
I'm keeping it real here. Rigo is a solid, high caliber fighter and would probably be the hardest fight style wise for Donaire. However, there is a huge question mark hanging on the quality of his chin. And Donaire can punch.
Donaire won't do it. Donaire tries to play superman too much and spark you with every punch. That won't work vs Rigondeaux, who'll counter him everytime he tries to load up on a lunging hook. I think Donaire has the skills and speed to beat Rigo, but I doubt he does it
