    Remains to be SEEN.

Rigo is insisting some legal dispute be settled before he signs and Arum seems to be willing to move on to Vic.

I understand his position but this might not even be possible to get done before the fight unless TR is simply willing to throw money at Caribe promotions. Don't look for that to happen.

Anybody read the article on the sene just now?

Rigondeaux OFFICIALLY DUCKING Donaire. (No I don't feel that way, but anybody who has claimed Donaire is ducking Rigo over the past couple months must 100% agree that Rigo is now ducking Donaire. Have some self respect; be consistent now...)

Arum offered the contract, wants the fight to happen, but has been told by Rigo that Rigo will not sign for the fight until after Top Rank settles a lawsuit with Caribe Promotions. Arum says he has no intent of doing so and has told Rigo this much.

So, Rigo won't sign until TR settles a lawsuit with Rigo's former/current co-promoter. He realizes those sort of things take a lot of time and/or money, and that Donaire is fighting with or without him on April 13?

Rigo holding up the Donaire fight.

People gonna be idiot hypocrites and whine when Donaire has to fight Darchinyan in a rematch all because Rigo can't accept a healthy career high in earnings and get the shot he has talked about for a year now.

  3. Rigondeaux fans should be glad. He would be annihilated.

I was going to start a thread on this myself...

    You beat me to it.

It is OFFICIAL when both Bob Arum and Rigondeaux himself publicly acknowledge the issues holding up a fight, and that it won't proceed if their demands aren't met, yes? That is the vast majority of fans' opinions regarding other fights that never happened for one reason or another. Rigondeaux OFFICIALLY ducking Donaire...? Yeah?

This is another World War 1 type discussion. Whistle blows and now the 'other side' gets out of the trench and charges. :rofl

Oh how I loathe the lack of consistency.

I'm still surprised Mares walked from a legit $1 million according to Schaefer. According to Arum that was double his previous high. Donaire put out the list of people he wanted and the first two have turned down what appears to be generous offers. Do these guys really want to fight Donaire?

all 1 million isn't going to Mares. It's a different story when GBP is paying Mares 1 million and when Top Rank is paying GBP 1 million to give to Mares. Plus Mares felt the amount was too low, so they made a counteroffer.

The promoter, trainer, cutman, etc ALWAYS take their cuts. We've been over the 'alleged' counter offer. Not going back to that here.

    X 2

Basically, GB vs. TR really is the reason for no Mares/Donaire. Period. I have no doubts the fighters would love to make it, if the contracts were slightly more lucrative and straightforward without the other promoter making sure they have the upper hand in the one fight contract. You'd think it would be easy (shrugs)...

Well, Donaire is not remotely involved in Rigondeaux's lawsuit. Not one bit. At least Mayweather was right in saying that he was legit being personally sued by Pacquiao.

This is between Top Rank Promotions and Caribe Promotions. Which means, whose fault is it for signing with Caribe Promotions in the first place when you're going to run off and sign with one of the big boys anyway? Team Rigondeaux.

The reason these fights aren't happening is because the promoters
of said fighters are advising against it. Mares turning down 1 mil to
test the waters at 126 and keep his undefeated record to face
Deleon, who he should beat, for a world title trump being embarrased
by a far superior fighter in Donaire. Thus, losing his marketablity and
his 0. Makes good business sense, which is what boxing these days
is all about. Rigo...........nothing to be said except he's not ready and
    would be viciously KO'd.
Nobody at 122 is ready for the KING.

P4P #1 by far. Nonito "the filipino flash" Donaire

  13. No be honest- would you give anyone at Jr Featherweight much of a shot against Donaire?

Personally I wouldn't mind seeing him move straight up to featherweight and target Chris John.

The point of the fights are to confirm this stuff though. The unexpected happens all the time in boxing. Well, not if the promoters plan it right I guess. :D
