This situation has existed all along so why is it an issue just now? TR had a lawsuit filed against it by Cabire. Rigo expect TR just to cave in to them to suit his own purposes? You know Bob will let Rigo sit out some more before that happens.

    I did.

I'm no contractual expert but the issues with the offer from Top Rank's side appear to be valid. BUT I wonder why they wouldn't look to counter and/or crunch something out since it's the best fight out there for Donaire?!

Schaefer already said that he would be willing to take the fight to HBO. Golden Boy also does a lot of fights there so I don't see how that would be a deal breaker. They could work something out that guarantees the fight to HBO should they match Showtime's offer.

Date? Schaefer said they were fine with April or whatever Donaire wanted.

Liability? In terms of guarantees and other stuff, seems to me to be standard stuff that they should be able to crunch out.

I'm not a big fan of Donaire but I've been pretty clear that he beats Mares and Rigo IMO. Mares is the more competitive fight though and also the more demanded one out of the two.

IMO Arum just has absolutely no interest in working with Golden Boy even when it is in his, and his fighters, best interest.

You may be right but I doubt that in this case. There are only so many legit fights for Donaire and it is a chance to lower GBP's financial interest in Mares. The little guys don't get the love when it comes to purses so Donaire is doing very well in that regard. Mares? I can't find a purse quote for any of his fights and no one seems to offer up the info when asked. He's been fighting on Show so it wouldn't surprise me if his high was actually somewhere around $250/300K.

I actually do feel for some of the Cuban fighters. They didn't know **** about free market systems coming out of Cuba and ended up being exploited by some pretty low level nefarious promoters. Once they realized they didn't know how to make money off of them the teamed up with high level nefarious promoters. I think this is Rigo's plight. Still the whole time he was calling out Nonito this situation existed and now he thinks he can leverage the fight into some kind of settlement. He's about to find his ass 'settlement' on the sidelines while Donaire moves on.

I hope you're right as TR's roster is becoming more and more thin by the day and their talent will need some real dance partners and not the same ol' recycled **** we are seeing lately.

Of course not because there's no excuse for Donaire and team not to accept/counter the offer. I don't think anybody here is shocked that you "aren't going back there".

My two cents, I would side with TR in the dispute please Rigo sign the ****xxx contract this is your only and final chance in your life don't blow it tell Caribe to stay low if you win you could dictate the terms but not this time.

What a Cuban *****.... Forget this fight, Rigo would run like a headless chicken once he tasted Donaire's Power.

Vic fight would be more entertaining IMO.
