terrible fight for ortiz...what are gbp thinking??? berto will ruin ortiz. berto needs to fight aydin or someone else worthwhile, the williams vs cintron 2 winner if martinez doesn't take the winner.

I think something along the lines of 'Let's get rid of this limp dick, mental case'.

Ortiz is getting a great opportunity here, that being said, if he hasn't tightened up his defense, Berto will hurt him.

As of now this fight is nothing but a RUMOR. However, everyone knows that this is a good fight (although a dangerous fight for both and rather confusing since no-one saw this on the radar). But people (Especially this ESB crowd) absolutely HATE Berto, so anyhing he does or anyone he fights...is fodder for the HATERZ!!!

These fools act as if Ortiz is a Bantamweight. In a recent interview with "The Scene" it was Ortiz himself who said "Trying to make 140lbs for my last two fights was extremely hard". In fact, if any of you remember, Ortiz was a ****ING JR. MIDDLEWEIGHT on fight night in his last two fights. Oh well...this is ESB, where FACTS DON'T MATTER!!!!

And again...this fight is still a rumor at this point.

There isn't anyone for Berto to fight at 147 with Mosley and Pacquiao fighting each other and Mayweather in semi retirement.

I would hardly call Ortiz a bum..... Im thinking Berto will win this but Ortiz beating Berto is a good possibility especially if he ends up beign a natural welter and carrys his power and average chin up with him.

Has berto faced anyone with Ortiz's power? I think if Ortiz keeps himself together mentally he can give berto major problems.

I like Golden Boy. They actually challenge their fighters.

Top Rank would have been feeding Ortiz chumps until he turns 30 ala JCC Jr.

Jr. is 24 w/NO amateur experience whatsoever.
(I think he is right on pace, IMO.)

i would prefer Cintron, but this sounds a lot better than Randall Bailey!

GBP are gambling Berto is not the goods and on Ortiz being able to somehow win (close fight=odds on Berto will be robbed) and they'd then have 4-5 major players from 140-147 if JMM takes the leap to 140, and Saul Alvarez establishes himself as an actual welter. That would give them more options for a Pac fight or for the winner of Bradley/Alexander. They could then basically do what Arum has done and pit them off against each other.

It’s worth noting that Ortiz is outgrowing the junior welterweight division, he weighs 155 plus on fight nights, and is actually slightly bigger than Berto (I think). Ortiz is no longer a 140 pound fighter. He’s a welterweight.

With that said, I think Berto wins easily. GBP are ****ing Ortiz up, it seems.

I don't think it's a rumor anymore since Schaefer and Dibella both confirmed that discussions are ongoing.
