Ring & Boxrec now rank AA at #10 SMW... does that look fine to you?

Funny that Bika is ranked 6th by The Ring, and ranked 21st by Boxrec...

...anyhow, based on a 50/50 combination of resume & skills displayed in say their last 3 fights, do you feel it's right to put Bika, Stieglitz, Andrade (Ring) and Sartison (Boxrec) ahead of AA?

How big an impact did AA's inactivity (or reluctance to fight) vs Froch have on his SMW rankings?

There was lots of FOTY talk on here about Froch-AA before it happened. How many of you still view Froch's UD over AA as a top notch win @ 168?

    Just wondering.

Well, i think it was a shitty fight, Froch's performance was good, though. But it's definitley not the FOTY. Never.

Number 10 is maybe a bit low, but who cares about rankings ? They are all **** anyway. :good

2 straight losses will do that to you.

Boxrec are gender confused, their rating make no sense whatsoever, its done by this stupid points system which doesnt work.

Ring magazine isnt perfect but its alot more reliable and useful to look and talk about

I think I have him 8th or 9th. Can't remember exactly. He'd beat the crap out of Stieglitz though, and has a better resume as well. I have Andrade and Bika ahead of him though, and frankly, I'd pretty seriously favor Andrade to win head to head.

+1 AA has also a career at MW so he`s not a 168 proven boxer.

Soooo, considering Froch beat a #7/8/9/10 SMW last Saturday, mind you in dominating fashion, how would you qualify Bute's KO of Andrade who was ranked 5th at the time (2nd fight) and who had never been KD before?

Sorry for plugging Bute in here, but I certainly hope that Froch's fans aren't picturing his win over AA as his most significant one... because all those fans are rating Froch over Bute based on resume. Don't get me wrong, Froch's resume is impressive. But which other top 10 SMW has Froch beaten in such dominating fashion? Taylor? Dirrell? Pascal (greenish SMW at the time)? Nope.

Good scraps? Whit who? Taylor is not a legit proven SMWer. He`s been exposed at 168 before their fight.

A little off topic, but since you're bringing up division moves, do you think that either Bika/Andrade/Stieglitz would have done better throughout the Super Six than what JT & AA were able to do? (politics aside, i.e. no USA vs Europe BS)

...would have loved to see Froch vs Andrade. :bbb

Box Rec uses a computer program to determine rankings. I have no idea how their algorythm works, but it's never very good.

Pavlik is at #6. Magee is at #12. Apparently a loss to Martinez and two trips to the Betty Ford Center is worth more points than 10 censecutive wins.

Andre Dirrell is at #2 and Mikkel Kessler is at #5. Both will remain inactive for an indeterminant amount of time. However, it looks like a win over #3 Carl Froch is worth less than a loss to Froch.

    Truly absurd.

The ONLY thing Dirrell did that would lead me to believe their software places him at #2 is win over an undefeated 31-0-0 Abraham. Lots of points awarded for that kind of win I guess... and very few points deducted for losing to an undefeated, 25-0-0 Froch.

They also take into account the losses by KO... that's probably why they, following the same logic, awarded a shitload of points to Bute for KO'ing an "unkayoed" Andrade.

I have a hard time understanding Pavlik's ranking though, even if it's based on points... the guy fought once at 164 and once at 170 in 5 yrs, lost both times. :huh

I'm fine with him rated 10th. I said it for a while, he was a good middleweight, but has done absolutely nothing at SMW bar beating Taylor who himself was a bloated MW. After back to back losses where he was pretty much dominated, 10th is generous IMO.
