now we have all seen or read about ring deaths and obviously it is a very sad occurance and it is not the intention of any boxer to actually kill another so criminal charges are extremely rare in our sports history.

but this is my question to you all , if boxer A kills boxer B in the ring but then boxer A is tested and found to be guilty of taking performance enhancing drugs should boxer A face criminal charges and what should they be

Luis Resto did serve time for what he did to Billy Collins, Jr. Although tampered gloves were primarily responsible, his criminally sleazeball corner man, Panama Lewis, was also known to administer performance enhancing drugs between rounds in specially mixed black bottles, and he also went to jail for that glove tampering. In any event, the Resto-Lewis-Collins episode makes it clear that criminal convictions can result even when there's not an immediate fatality, but serious injury as the consequence of any performance enhancement cheating, not strictly substance ingestion. The precedence is clear.

the trouble is fighters now kid themselves that all training "enhances performance" so the ilegal stuff is just an extension of this. they convince themselves its not cheating anyway. dont get me wrong, I would lock them up just the same, but where does it start and where does it stop?

Not in my opinion. You don't take PEDs to kill an opponent or put them in harm's way, even though the job, as Ray Robinson once said, is to put the opponent in harm's way. But no one ever intentionally causes permanent injuries on an opponent.

It's different if you remove the padding, or "load" the gloves, as there is proof of that contributing to the injuries, such as in the Resto-Collins fight.

difficult questions.. personally i believe that sevare damage or death is caused by faul play there should be criminal charges.. for example boxer a hits boxer b on the back of the head (and not by accident or so) and the guy dies then it is manslaughter.. same goes in other sports for me..if it is a clear breaking of the rules and then something happens then the other guy can press charges or sew him for money.. few years back we had a proffesoinal soccer player overhere in holland. who kicked his opponent real bad whilst the bal was already gone.. the guy that got hit never played proffesoinal soccer again.. the other guy had to pay him hundreds of thousands of dollars

In court im sure the idea of an unfair advantage that contributed to boxer B's demise would not be looked upon favourably but probably would not get the same sort of punishment as glove loading.

morals have been corupted a long time ago. if a fighter was approached by a dietician who could guarantee all the unfair advantages of PED's for a fighter and still pass drug tests my guess is the guy would be in high demand. a millionaire.

Now lets say a fighter wants this advantage too but can’t afford this dietician but he can afford PED's is he any more of a cheat? Both fighters have been artificially and unnaturally enhanced.

If a guy dies as a result of this undetectable advantage would he be as much a victim as the fighter killed by the drugs cheat?

fighters will always look for an advantage be it tactical, physical, legal or ilegal. fair or unfair, even the ones who die.
