From news of the fight: Bradley-Alexander Quick Quotes Timothy Bradley: “If that’s the best in the world, that’s weak. He didn’t want to get hit with the big shot. Throughout the fight, we were both coming in, back and forth. Devon is a tough, tough warrior. He will be champion again….Regarding the last headbutt, we were both coming in trying to land the big shot. Give Alexander time, and he will box you to pieces. I didn’t give him that time.” Devon Alexander: “I couldn’t see after the headbutt. He’s got a big head, he came at me full force. My eye was burning, I couldn’t see….You can’t work on a headbutt [in the gym], only skills. He didn’t stop me from using my skills. No excuses….There’s a rematch clause in the contract, and I want a rematch with Timothy Bradley.” Kevin Cunningham: (Alexander’s trainer) “I told the referee before the fight that Bradley’s last six opponents have been cut by headbutts. I told him, I told him, I told him.” Frank Garza: (Referee) “I ruled it an accidental headbutt, completely different from the earlier headbutt. I stopped the fight after consultation with the ringside physician.” Dr. Peter Samet: (Ringside Physician) “I told Devon that he had to open his right eye or the fight would be over. I asked him to open his eye three times, but he couldn’t do it. I feared temporary nerve damage or temporary paralysis was preventing him from opening his eye, so I recommended to the referee that the contest be stopped.”
comeon doc, you know dee-von is a little slow....you have to speak slowly to him, short sentences, no big words
“I told the referee before the fight that Bradley’s last six opponents have been cut by headbutts. I told him, I told him, I told him.” After all that **** this guy spewed, along with Devon saying this would be 'an easy fight'...it is absolutely hilarious to see them both completely in denial. Suckaz.
interesting. sounds to me that devon didn't quit and had legitimate reason to not continue. as for bradley saying, "If that’s the best in the world, that’s weak. He didn’t want to get hit with the big shot", how can he say that when it was a close fight. bradley didn't throw many punches at all. he looked frustrated. devon was the one throwing more combinations. they both threw less punches that they normally do, showing too much respect to one another and not making sure of victory. that is what made it a dull fight. the crowd was quiet from the start. normally just before the bell rings to start the fight when both fighters are in their corners, the crowd is cheering but everyone was so quiet. i understand that there were probably a lot of neutral fans there but i thought there would be more enthusiasm for the fight in general or for a boxer that you put a wager on.
It certainly doesn't look like Alexander wanted any more of that fight. If he did he would have said something to that effect. Tell the doc or ref to give you a minute or five. I think the doctor gave him the opportunity to stay in the fight.
The fighter's health comes before anything else, but it looked like he was doing a little bit of acting. I not gonna criticise, but there were only 2 rounds left, and the fight was close so he practically gave away his chance to defend his 0 and belt. The butt that opened up the eye was his fault because he kept grabbing Bradley.
Alexander joined the ortiz club tonight! Pacquiao or valero would NEVER QUIT!! Throw margarito in that ***** too.
