Ring Magazine has announced its awards for 2007. Floyd Mayweather was named ‘Fighter of the Year’ for the second time in his career. He was also named in 1998.

Israel Vazquez KO 6 Rafael Marquez II was named ‘Fight of the Year’.

Israel Vazquez – Rafael Marquez II, round number 3 was named ‘Round of the Year’.

Nonito Donaire KO 5 Vic Darchinyan was named ‘Knockout of the Year’.

Nonito Donaire KO 5 Vic Darchinyan was named ‘Upset of the Year’.

Paulie Malignaggi was named ‘Comeback Fighter of the Year’.

Floyd Mayweather – Oscar De La Hoya was named ‘Event of the Year’.

The only one I disagree with is Fighter of the Year: I think it should have went to Pavlik. Other than that - I had the same picks. :good

I agree with everything except upset of the year. I think the guy who beat Ouma pulled a bigger shocker. But it was not a title fight.

I would have gone with Vernon Forrest for comeback, Wilson-Nwodo for knockout, and Cotto for fighter of the year.

I disagree with the comeback of the year award. I think the only reason he got it is cuz of lack of selection in that department, it should have went to vernon forrest or maybe even Mayorga. But Vernon fa sho

    I agree with almost everything.

My pick for the Fighter of the Year: Kelly Pavlik
    Upset: Naito Def. Wonjongkam

Of course it's hard to argue with the Oscar-Floyd event, but in Europe and in the terms of division history, I would pick Calzaghe-Kessler. Biggest SMW fight in history, probably the best SMW title fight (it was not a 12 round slugfest but an absolute genius and exciting art of boxing), not to mention the 50.000+ fans.

Comeback really could have gone to Forrest and fighter of the year could have gone to Pavlik, but Mayweather isnt a terrible choice.

My KO of the Year would have went to Cintron vs. Mathyesse - but Doraire's KO of Vic D. was very nice and satisfying.

I felt how people felt when The Prince lost to MAB - it was just satisfying.

Ouma has been beaten, but NOBODY on these boards thought Saul Roman would do it.

Ouma has been beaten by championship level fighters, not by a journeyman who just lost to another journeyman.

    Vernon should of got comeback.

I agree with most of the other choices, they all deserve them.

Nobody outside of the pinoys on this forum gave Donaire a chance.
