I looked it up and he boxed as a teenager before going to jail. But what I said remains, he was a novice in the pros in 1992.

It doesn’t remain. Either you’re a novice or you’re not. Hopkins was a beast with a reasonable amount of experience, definitely not novice level.

What happened is that you believed Hopkins’ storytelling which was a hyperbolic version of what actually happened. Kid from bad neighborhood got into boxing, did some time, and went back to boxing.

April Issue was pretty heavy, but my cover is torn & mixed up with a stack of mags, don't know whose on the front!

    1. Evander Holyfield
    2.Mike Tsyon
    3. Razor Ruddock
    4. Buster Douglass
    5. Tim Witherspoon
    6. Carl Williams
    7. F. Damiani
    8. Riddick Bowe
    10. George Foreman

September issue has George Foreman on the cover. And the preview to undefeated Tommy Morrison taking on Ray Mercer.

And the first time I ever heard about CHarley Burley was this issue entitled "Why boxing's finest all around fighter never got a title shot." in this issue.
