Ward already has a better resume then Calzaghe did throughout his whole career. Ward has beaten everyone worth beating just about in his division. Something Calzaghe was scared of doing.
:rofl:rofl Wards biggest win is Calzaghes leftovers! Not to mention he refuses to leave the boxing mecca that is Oakland :rofl who was calzaghe scared of? it was people like hopkins who ran away from him for years (well documented), because the Ring refused to give him a fair ranking and so for americans he was massive risk/low reward. You then sent over ''mini mike tyson'' in Jeff Lacy and finally, finally......he started to get some love from Ring. Calzaghe beating Eubank was more impressive than Ward beating Calzaghes leftovers.
Except Manny actually beat Bradley, who is one of the best fighters in the world. Yeah he got KTFO in his next fight but that was by another of the best fighters in the world in a fight that was very close prior to the KO. Broner has done nothing to deserve his ranking, which should be based on accomplishments, not potential. And I'm a fan of Broner.
If Pacquiao beat Bradley on the grounds that the majority of observers agree with that assessment, than Pacquiao lost to Marquez in their third fight on that same principle. So, he may not have lost 2 in a row, but no matter how you slice it and sugarcoat it he has lost 2 out of 3 no matter what.
I can agreee with that. But I don't think losing twice to a fighter that is so much more accomplished than anyone Broner has ever fought is enough to drop him below Broner in the rankings.
Ward does not have a better resume than Calzaghe's whole career. Ward's best wins - Froch, Kessler and Dawson - are not better than Calzaghe's best wins - Eubank, Kessler and Hopkins - and beyond that Calzaghe has a greater depth of contender level opposition due the longevity of his career - Lacy, Ried, Woodhall, Mitchell, Brewer, Veit, Bika, Shieka and even the Shot Roy Jones Jr against Ward's Abraham, Green and Miranda. Ward has a strong resume, but it is not noticably better in terms of strenght of opposition than Calzaghe's is, he's fought more top contenders earlier in his career than Calzaghe did in his but he's not fought a greater number of them.
I 100% agree. (and obviously I had Pac over Bradley wide) Pac's still in my top 10, although I can see a case easily that he shouldn't be, and Broner is probably not in my top 20. I don't see how Broner could be unless you ONLY factor in your opinion of talent, in which case I could throw Gary Russell Jr, Golovkin, and Alvarez in their too.
I agree. The reason so many say that though is because just as apparent as Calzaghe having the better resume is, it is also just as apparent that it is only a matter of time. Ward is amassing better wins per year and per fight to this stage of their careers, winning in more dominant fashion against said competition, and doing so against a plethora of top 5 or so ranked opponents given his short time spent as a "top" fighter.
I agree that Ward's current succession of opposition (excluding the planned fight with Pavlik that never happened) does make it look like he will eclipse Calzaghe's resume in the future, but he's not done so right now, so I still feel justified in opposing people who pre-empt it.
Who's he beat to be the #6 P4P fighter in the world? I don't know why you septics do it. You just set your selves up for a fall when your latest wonderboy gets Lacy'd.
